Alice In Borderland (2022-2023 Netflix) Interesting Japanese series (thankfully dubbed in English). Where a small population of people find themselves to appear to still be in and around the Tokyo area, but with most of the people gone. They are forced to play "games" against with and against each other often with deadly results. Nobody knows who is behind the games or how to "get back" to their own reality. Good character development, with interesting action and crazy games.
So pretty much a Hunger Games remake?
Not exactly (but kind of yes). The people have no idea how they got there. Nobody knows what the "end-game" is, or how to get out. There are also people from different ages as well (not just young adults and teens). Also not just a free-for-all killing spree. Some games can have nobody die (or everyone). It's just more than a little weird.

Anyone watched La Brea, and is it any good?
I watched the first 2 or 3 episodes but quickly lost interest.... I can't remember why. I'm guessing I was trying to get Mrs Staybrite interested in watching something with me and she didn't care for it.... I probably would have kept watching, but had ton of other things I was trying to keep up with.

Cool, I thought it was an interesting idea. But there's been mixed reviews.

The Philadelphia Experiment (1984) The Philadelphia Experiment 2(1993) The Philadelphia Experiment (2012)
The ‘84 and ‘93 were great. The 2012 was a bit of a remake while also doing more. It felt odd that they had the guy that was the main lead in the other two films as a bad guy.

I had no idea they did a sequel in '93.... I do remember hearing about the "reboot" version in 2012 but didn't see it. My wife was a big fan of the 84 version (wasn't that Michael Pare as lead in the first film?)

Yes, that was him. He was in all 3 movies.
Also, a similar type of movie I saw not too long ago…. The Final Countdown (1980)

Pitch Black (2000) The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) Riddick (2013)
I watched the first film back when it was new and did not care for it. I re-watched this last week and actually found it better than I remembered (I had never seen the second two). I think I was bummed about it the first time I watched it because I thought it was more of a traditional sci-fi kind of movie and it was more like a monster flick. I came at it with a more open attitude this go-round. Oddly the worst of the three films is the second one, which is more like a traditional science-fiction (Dune-esque) kind of flick. I'm not a huge fan of Vin Diesel but the first and thirds film where kind of fun. Anyone else like or despise these movies?

I remember liking them but can’t remember much about them. It has been a long while since watching this trilogy. I’ll need to see them again to refresh myself.

It's been a while but I remember enjoying the first and third ones quite a bit. The second was sorta "meh" as I recall. A very underrated movie IMO is A Perfect Getaway which is directed by the same guy. I recommend NOT watching the trailer as there are many spoilers in it. But it's about a few couples hiking in Kauai while a murderer is about... who may be one of them... It's suspenseful but quite comedic, plus very well written and cast.

They really missed out on naming that movie. The tag-line they used "Live Die Repeat" would have been a much better name for the movie.

The first half of iRobot... until I feel asleep! And as my friend said, it's impossible to watch any Will Smith movie without thinking of that slap! It's sort of ruined every Will movie now.
