Mr. Harrigon's Phone (2022) Straight to Netflix adaptation of a Stephen King story. Not terrible, but certainly not suspenseful enough for the type of story it tries to be. Kind of a lame ending as well. I thought the highlight of the film was the performance of Cyrus Arnold in the somewhat small (but important) role of high school bully. He did a fantastic performance as the troubled and somewhat goofy (but very menacing) antagonist. Of course Donald Sutherland was perfectly acceptable as the gruff aged business tycoon that somehow still has a soft spot for our lead character Craig. The young actor who played Craig (Jaeden Martell) came across as completely vanilla and nearly emotionless. His performance in Netflix's "Metal Lords" as the hesitant drummer of a young high school metal band was at least a bit better than this film.

Flash Gordon
V for Vendetta
Story behind these… I got off work at 1pm and was a little tired. Normally I may lay down for about 30 minutes and get up fairly rejuvenated. I layed down at 3pm and woke up at 9pm. Figured it was too late to do much so I watched Flash Gordon. Went back to bed at 11pm and then got up at 5am. Too early to do much so decided to watch V for Vendetta.

Star Trek Picard season 1 Finally was able to see this on dvd. Wow, that was incredible. Already seen season 2 so just have to wait for season 3 on dvd.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 1 That was awesome! Very cool show pre-Kirk on the Enterprise. As soon as the library gets season 2 , I will be checking that out.
I like the cast of Strange New Worlds except for the reoccuring visiting James T. Kirk. The actor they have playing him is way too old as Kirk was the youngest Starfleet Captain. This guy is at least 10 years older than he needs to be when he should take the Enterprise in a few years. Also, this actor has none of the swagger and bravado that Kirk should have. This is a plain white vanilla Kirk.
The rest of season two is pretty cool except for episode 9. It is a full on musical episode. What a waste of my time!
I never thought it was James Kirk but just another Kirk. Turns out he is meant to be the older brother of James.
George Samuel "Sam" Kirk (portrayed by Dan Jeannotte) is a life sciences officer aboard the Enterprise and elder brother to future captain James T. Kirk. Myers said Sam and James were very different and the series would explore their complex relationship.[31]

I had forgotten that Mel Gibson was in that. Isn't Jodie Foster in that too? I probably haven't seen that movie in nearly 20 years.

Yes, she is.
20 years? You need to do something about that.

Ill try, but it is kind of rare for me to watch more than 1 or 2 movies in a week.

New Goosebumps have arrived on Disney+. Kids want to see it. Looks like most l of them are remakes of the older shows. We will probably start watching this weekend.

Mrs Staybrite made me rewatch a film we watched several years ago "In Time" It wasn't quite as good as I remembered it, but it was an interesting future dystopian society kind of flick (one of my favorite genres). Worth watching if you've never seen it.... but it does star Justin Timberlake.

I remember that being mentioned one time, yet I haven’t seen it yet. I’ll have to put it on my list for the next time I go to the library.

Superman and Lois (TV seasons 1 and 2)
Clark and Lois face their greatest challenge yet, raising teenage sons in the midst of their day to day lives.
I have actually enjoyed it. I was a little let down as they teased one character only to end up with another in season 2. All in all it worked rather well.

Cooties (2014) - Goofy zombie film with a twist... it's only children who get infected with the zombie virus. Several teachers and a janitor much fight for their lives to escape an elementary school. Staring Elijah Wood (yep the Hobbit Frodo) and Rainn Wilson. It was an amusing 90 minute distraction.

Krypton season 2
It takes a little to get going but does get interesting. Sadly it ends with a cliffhanger and is not renewed for a season 3.

La Brea ( TV, seasons 1 & 2)
This actually reminds me of a show I used to love in my younger days, Land of the Lost. While it does have some prehistoric animals (Sabre tooth tigers, woolly mammoth, woolly rhino, giant sloth etc) it is primarily a human drama.

Triangle (2009) - Strange time-loop movie suspense thriller kind of thing. Good ending. Total Kerrick kind of movie.
Black Sheet (2006) - Zombie sheep in New Zealand. Just as goofy and terrifying as it sounds.

Fantastic Four (2015)
This was my first time seeing this one. I had heard negatives about it and decided to pass on it for the time being.Even though it flopped, it wasn’t entirely a bad movie . Yet, I can understand why it failed.

I finished up Marvel's Secret Invasion. It was okay. All it did was set up a future Avengers movie that a better script on the big screen may have done better. It was good to see Nick Fury again, but the whole show, even the few action scenes, just seem to plod along. Marvel has GOT to get better again or they are going to lost a lot more money.

Seems like Disney is ruining just about everything it touches now.

Yep!
Today, I watched The Marvels. Disney/Marvel is definitely not at their A game anymore. Can Ms. Marvel (aka Kamala Kahn) be any more annoying? Do I really need Brie Larson to sing? This one was just a lot of silly strewn together.

A classic, The Bishop’s Wife. Last night we watched Family Man with Nicolas Cage. It’s a good movie. It isn’t a Christmas movie but takes place at the holidays. He is a Wall Street Exec that gives him a glimpse of what life would be like had he stayed with his college girlfriend. The experience makes him a better human.
We also enjoy that movie because it was an exciting time in our lives. We originally saw it in the theater. The next day my wife found out she was pregnant with our oldest daughter who is now 22! So it always reminds us of that special time and reminds us of the sacrifices we have made over the years to be a family. Good movie.

Family Man is a great film. I love the way they did the whole "what if" portion of the story. Tea Leone and Cage just personified suburban parents in that flick (I could really relate to them).

The wife made me go to the movie theater for my birthday. We ended up watching The Hunger Games: Birds and Snakes & Tigers (Oh my!) or whatever it is called (ridiculously long name). Quite franking I expected the movie to stink. I'm not a big fan of that Zegler actress that had one of the major lead roles (at least not her social politics), but I was pleasantly surprised. With the exception of a few minor irritations (like the 2-1/2 hour length) it was a pretty decent flick. We also got to go (for the first time) to a new theater much closer to where we live and it was quite nice actually. Large leather-style recliners with a dedicated cup-holder and tray table. Also more space in front of the rows so people can pass by without causing you to have to stand up from your seat. The place also has quite a few arcade games and bowling alley and something called "glow golf" (some kind of indoor putt-putt golf thingy).

How the West Was Won (1962)
Topaz (1969)
Hunger Games - I enjoyed it as much as the original series though kind of got lost with what exactly happened just before the end.
Devotion - great movie based on true story during start of Korean War

Citizen X (1995) - Interesting flick about a serial killer in communist Russia in the 1980's. Interesting look to the film. The film's style and some of the stilted acting (or possibly editing/directing) made it seem like it was made in the 1970's. Decent film worth watching at least once, and based on a true story. Starring Stephen Rea (Irish actor who's biggest role was probably in the film "The Crying Game") and Donald Sutherland. Max Von Sydow also has a small part. Long-time character actor Jeffery DeMunn was really good as the serial killer as well, some of you might remember him as Harry, one of the guards on the movie "The Green Mile".
