VERY late to this party, but I watched the first Mission Impossible movie today. I had never seen any of them until today.
Watched the first 4 again on the plane rides home to prep for new one (after watching 5 and 6 again).

Indy and the Dial of Destiny.
It was probably the weakest in all the Indy films, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. Looking forward to Oppenheimer and Mission Impossible much more than this.
PROS Entertaining Harrison still has it, even at his age! Felt about the right length for a film of this style The bad quys were quite interesting
CONS Great CGI, but you KNEW it wasn't Harrison, so immediately you knew it wasn't real. Harrison's sidekick was annoying. Not as annoying as I'd heard, but still not great. Some of the action scenes took too long
PERSONALLY ANNOYING... I don't like it when a criminal dies a horrid death (yes, I know that's strange, but that's me). So whilst the main bad guys just blew up in a plane or were shot that was good, but the big guy drowned after being chained underwater - I didn't like that at all. That knocked a few points off the films score for me.

Like Father
It is Kristen Bell movie about a lady who is a workaholic who gets dumped at the alter and accidentally takes her absent father, who showed up uninvited to the wedding, on her honeymoon cruise. If not for some language, it was a pretty good story.

I realize that there is now a strike in Hollyweird, so finding new content may be difficult for a while.
Regardless of that, is it just me, or is it getting harder to find something new that seems interesting? I am not even talking about finding something clean or family friendly. For the most part, everything seems like they are just redoing and rehashing things I have seen multiple times and nothing is really catching my attention.
Maybe it is time to turn off the television and just read a book.

We started watching the old show Northern Exposure. I think I only saw 2 episodes during it's original run.

I never saw it myself, but given that it was filmed in Washington I knew a lot of people who did watch it. For some reason I always think of "Picket Fences" (TV series) as being popular at around the same time (another show I also didn't watch). I was probably watching "Tool Time", "Married With Children" or "Dinosaurs".

We started Picket Fences but the humor was too blue for us so we didn't make it past but a few episodes. I was a little late to the Home Improvement game but have the series on DVD. Great show!

Oppenheimer
PROS It's Christopher Nolan directing, so you know it's going to be good. The lead up to the bomb test was intense The acting was superb The music was atmospheric
CONS Probably the worst Nolan film I've seen. It was good, but it was too long. Could have been cut by an hour. It didn't need the nudity They missed a trick, when they didn't show you the effects of the bomb on Japan, so it took away the awfulness of the bomb

Mission Impossible 7.1
PROS It's Tom Cruise, so you know it's going to be good. Action all the way, some of the stunts were incredible. The train scene was amazing Tom looks like he could run forever, and yet he's 61!
CONS None that I could see. Maybe it's a standard Mission Impossible film, but hey, they're all great. It's part 1, so we gotta wait for part two!

We saw it last night and would agree. A con to me is some things were just too implausible I suppose. Like him running seemingly forever (after being in an extensive fight) through a maze of alleys to get exactly where he needed or the ending "flight" going on far longer than possible.
I wonder how long Part 2 will be delayed now with the strike? Apparently "The Chosen" has been granted a waiver to keep filming the last few weeks of season 4 since they aren't backed by a major studio.
