I have verigross (varicose) veins. I have a spot on my leg from these that had turned very dark and swollen. From the amount of heat coming off of it, you can tell it is infected. So, I went to my NP and got a prescription. She also recommended compression socks.
I officially feel, and hereby, surrender to the fact that I an old man.
Crap, I have veryclose veins too. I really don't want to have to wear those ugly compression socks. But my uncle has to wear them... so it's just a matter of time.

We're getting A/C installed today! Wahoooooo! Just in time too, because it's starting to get pretty toasty here and this week is supposed to heat up significantly.

I grew up in a single wide trailer with no air conditioning for many years. We had crank open windows and a couple of box fans. It was rough.
I wouldn't want to go without A/C now. When we hit days in the pper 80s, 90s, or above during the summer, our humidity can easily be 60-90%. It is cooler today with 60% humidity. Even though it is currently only 77, the heat index can make it feel 85 outside. Today is one of those days where it is unseasonably cool, so you won't hear anything about global warming or climate change in our local news. They will wait until it is hotter than Satan's buttcrack before they talk that talk.

I was the same (with the exception of the trailer home). I used to wake up in sweat and had to shower. I don’t think I could go without A/C now. In the summer the most time I spend outside is doing yard work first thing in the morning one day a week.

So we are doing a community picnic with our church on Sunday, July 4th. I think it was not a great time because people go to the lake, get together with family and friends, travel, etc. But, the church wanted to do it. They made big plans, but failed to see that we are tiny and don't have people to make these plans happen. So, doing things like trying to rent a bounce house or two at the last minute was handed to me YESTERDAY as the man overseeing this whole thing has said he doesn't have time despite this being his idea. What I am finding is that everyone I call or email is booked through the end of next week. Hey, it's VBS season--what did you expect, right?
Now, I have to report back on the 6 places I have called and two I have emailed that are all giving me the same answer while trying to put together a Facebook invite to a community picnic where we have nothing for kids, we're doing it after church so no fireworks, and we have no way to plan how much or how little food we need.
I thought I was called to preach--not be the church secretary, media department, event planner, etc. LOL

I've been playing music with three other guys since around September. We've had some fun, but the lead guitarist and I are wanting to focus on writing new, or reworking old, material that we've written.
Sadly, the youngest guy in the band quit last week because of wanting to focus on his career. He finished his Master's in cyber security last spring as all the shutdowns happened. He stayed at the job he had until everything reopened just for stability. He and I both split vocals with the songs we were doing, so this is going to cause me to have to pick up the songs I can do with my baritone range. If we keep all the songs we were doing until we can write our own, it will cause us to have to rework some of them so that I can sing them.
I hope we can find another guitarist who can also sing. Shoot, I would settle for a singer that didn't play. We could do this as we are.
Please pray that we will find the right Christian musician(s) to help us grow this vision together and be great friends who can build each other up in Christ. The music needs to come second to that.

While it does stink, at least we hadn't played out more than a couple of blues jams. We are only now starting to work on original material. This is a setback, but it isn't really a bad time for a lineup change. If we had finished an album and had shows booked, then this would be a blow. For now, it is just weird going on as a three piece band instead of a four piece.

So I am trying a slow cooker carnitas recipe to day and it calls for one seeded and diced jalapeno. My wife doesn't like spicy food, so I usually don't cook with spicy peppers. But a jalapeno isn't that spicy and it is only one in a large pot of food. So I took out the seeds gave it a chop and tossed it in the pot with the rest of the food. I must have washed my hands at least 4 times since then (yes with soap). I just rubbed both of my eyes with my hands and they are stinging a bit. Good thing I wasn't using anything spicier!

Cancer is just as much genetic as it is not taking care of oneself. My grandmother had lung cancer at 89 and died at 91. She had never smoked even once in her life. My uncle, who only smoked during his 20s and some of his 30s, is now dealing with his second bought of lung cancer. My mom sounds more like your dad and died at 55 of sleep apnea.

When you stop for a burger and the restaurant is short staffed, that's bad. When you are short staffed and treat the customers like it is their fault that you can't get help, then maybe you, the management, might be the reason why you have no help.

And this is why you wear rubber/latex gloves while handling peppers.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this. I can certainly relate as that was what they think took my father's life (only at 71). Started in his lungs, metastasized to his stomach and wiped out his liver. I hope your dad lives close enough that you can still see him often. The last time I saw my dad was September of 2019.
