I absolutely hate to do plumbing. I don't care how careful you are with PVC, something is going to break or just not seal right. Grrrrr.......

I suck at plumbing. I can do nearly everything else in a house up to and including total construction... but plumbing.. I'll fiddle with something for 2 hours, cuss up a storm, then call our plumber man... whom I should have called in the first place ! I feel for ya Alldat !

I know. It is that kind of push that has me to the point of not really liking Christmas anymore.
Same here. I'm rather tired of the over-excitement about Christmas. To me, it's just another day of the year. There's good food, usually, but I end up gaining more pounds than I should. At least people are happy about it, which makes it pleasant to some extent to be around others. January through March are usually dark seasons, especially here on account of the snow.

I can almost guarantee you that the distribution center for my work (Dollar General) will start sending us Valentine's AND EASTER candy before Christmas is over with.

I think you guys will appreciate this. I was on my phone last night checking up on CHM a when my fiancé looks at me and says, "You talking to your girlfriend?" I told her that it's pretty much all guys on here talking metal and Star Wars. Anyway I got the hint and I put away my phone.

I got to share a mini-sermon with the guys in my dorm at school just now. It was on the topic of temptation, based off James 1:12-15 (resisting temptation), Matthew 4:1-11 (Jesus's temptation), and 2 Samuel 11 (David and Bathsheba). I got to talk about what temptation is, why we should resist it, how to recognize and resist it, what to do in case we sin, and about what David did wrong (and right, in the end) and what Jesus did right. It was a good time, I think, and it brought up a few good points from the other guys afterward on the topic. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, because I sort of was, but it ended up being pretty good, I think. To me, temptation is a really important topic, because of this, in James 1:14-15: "But each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death." From desire to death in a very short time - that's scary.
By the way, did anyone know Abraham had a concubine with whom he had 6 children, including the patriarch of the Midianites? I didn't know until I read 1 Chronicles 1:32 as part of my read-the-Bible-in-a-year course. Never had a suspicion of it until now.

Yep, the Midianites descended from Keturah.
Bonus question: who was the ancestor of the Amalekites?

Yeah, there's lots of stuff in the Old Testament that most preachers won't touch with a ten foot pole... 2 Kings 19 comes to mind.

Ah, Sennacherib the Threatener. Not to mention Judges 19 (19 seems to be an unlucky number), which is probably too disgusting to be discussed here. Unless that's what you were talking about...

This is a pretty interesting topic, mainly to musicians, but also in general: changing the basic note in music. A certain pitch, the 4th A, is usually at 440 Hz, but some are proposing to change it (back) to 432 Hz. I tried it with my guitar, and it sounds cool.

I've watched several videos about this where the pitch of existing songs were shifted. You know what I could tell? Very little. In most cases, it made the song just seem slower, but did not bring about any different perception of the songs for me.
Personally, I think it is just another set of conspiracy theorists if they really believe that the Nazis did this for mind control.

I call the conspiracy theories and "note-of-the-universe" theories malarkey, but I like the sound of 432. It's, well, sort of more agreeable.
