- The basic message of the NT is easy to understand without the OT - but when I studied the OT for a couple years in depth, it began to open up so much more of the NT to me. I was blown away at many of the mis-conceptions that we have or are taught in strongly NT churches once I understood the culture and references to the OT that made more sense. An understanding of the OT just brings so much light to the NT is all I can say.
FWIW, I'm not simply reading. That would be a disaster! I have a MacArthur study Bible, and while I don't agree 100% with his NT interpretations, his notes have been none-the-less helpful. I read a chapter, then read through his comments. I have the same, his notes are often longer than the bible passages. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I did a through the Bible in a year program with my church a few years back. It truly was enlightening. I had always been raised with this idea that the NT God was loving and merciful and that the OT God was just looking for a reason to smiteth people. Turns out that loving and merciful God thing is a constant theme throughout. Whoda thunk?

| As for the reading the Bible through, I have done that 7 or 8 times. I did it twice in one year! That was an undertaking! I far prefer the New Testament as all those begots kind of drag down the narrative as does the numbering of the people for battle. Just get to the action scenes already! | I'm looking forward to classes actually. I get to see old classmates and teachers. I get along with my teachers really well so they are also my friends. Once I start getting more school work I won't be able to talk too much. | |

| I fully understand about not being on as much as you head back to school. Here in my home county, our kids started back on Aug. 1. So, with one of my jobs being an aid in a special needs classroom at a local high school, I had to head back 2 days prior to that! Between doing counseling for a few couples that I am doing their wedding ceremony, practices for gigs with two different bands, deacon's meetings, youth events, the actual gigs with the bands, and a whole lot more, I am barely home. It's been this way for almost two months! I am ready for a day to just sit, read what has transpired here, and respond. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| It's not fun to be so busy for that long time. At one day you can sit down and read all the things we have posted here.
I have a don't-know-what-to- do day. When I start this, I think I've to do that and this and so and .... Time to stop this. | |

| When did the default response to being bothered by something become "create a Facebook group where you can gripe about it" instead of "get off your butt and do something about it" ?

| I went to see my chiropractor today. I love the therapy bed that they put you on before you get an adjustment. It's basically a mechanized massage bed. It is one of the most relaxing 20 minute naps a person can get.

| Looks like I have a new ailment to deal with. I woke up this morning with something wrong with my eyesight. Both eyes are affected. For 2 hours since I woke up, they're acting like I looked at a light bulb for a few seconds then looked away (you know what I'm talking about)... it's not going away though. I can see, but only peripherally... this is kinda scary... | |
