| I would have turned that off too. Sounds annoying. Like, what if I don't want to watch the video? | |

- This is a pretty interesting topic, mainly to musicians, but also in general: changing the basic note in music. A certain pitch, the 4th A, is usually at 440 Hz, but some are proposing to change it (back) to 432 Hz. I tried it with my guitar, and it sounds cool.
http://motherboard.vice.com/read/the-fringe-audiophiles-who-want-to-topple-standard-tuning Yeah, pitch has raised through the years. I remember a professor talking about how if Beethoven heard his Fifth Symphony in C minor today he would wonder why they were playing it in C#. I haven't read the article, but it sounds like they are advocating for a meantone temperment system instead of the standard equal temperment system we generally use today. The fifths are a little narrower and A is somewhere in the 432-3 neighborhood. As for A440 being first implemented by the Nazis, that is easily debunked. The Americans had standardized that frequency in 1925, and it had been in use in Paris as early as the 1810s (pitch wasn't really a standardized thing until 1939). There's more than I'm sure anyone wanted to know. | |

| So, there I was standing at the grocery store checkout when the guy behind me moves my items to the back of the belt and then proceeds to place his items ahead of mine to which I protest with a verbal whatcha doin' type question and he responds very matter of fact-like that he'd prefer for me to purchase his items for him and of course you know that went over like a lead balloon (or Led Zeppelin if you will) which caused the people spectating to take sides after which, we don't know who, somebody threw a punch leading to an all out, olde fashioned style grocery store brawl resulting in assorted food items being strewn various directions, kids crying, employee's yelling, clothes being torn a one guy losing his glass eye and cops responding which is how everybody, even the crying kids ended up in the joint making you shake your head because obviously none of this is even remotely true. | |
