The rain from the hurricane finally made it to the plains. Or Tennessee. It set into raining yesterday afternoon and has only periodically stopped. Fortunately, it is a slower soaking rain that we so desperately needed. This will continue for several more hours.

We're getting dumped on out here. I was out in it for about 30 seconds and got soaked.

The rain wasn't bad here in the South-Central Ozarks.

Yesterday afternoon, when I was getting ready to go jam with the guys, I had to go across my backyard to get my bass. It was raining so hard that my raincoat was soaked thru in just the few seconds it takes to go to my building and back to my truck. Fortunately, I have a yellow rain suit that I bought for directing traffic at school and threw it on over my clothes. Problem solved!

Now I see why I have avoided working with recording software. For whatever reason, I just don't get it. I have quite a bit of equipment my wife bought me, and I can't figure this crap out. I am ready to freakin' scream!!!!
I can't even get the program to recognize the interface I am using. I can get sound through it, but it won't let me record and tells me to check the device, change the sample rate, and several other things. NONE OF THAT WORKS! Yes, I have the most recent driver.
I just think it is not for me to know this dark magic. Give me a physical recorder any day. At least those make sense.

I was trying both Audacity and Reaper with an older M-Audio 2 channel interface.

I've upgraded to Reaper and got a Focusrite Scarlett. The 2 seem to work together quite nicely.
Did you install Reaper as a portable install?

I love the Focusrite Scarlett so much I have two Great little interface I used to use an m-box too. Used to put that one in my handbag so it was very portable, but it doesn't sound nearly as good as the Focusrite and it started to struggle to keep up when I upgraded my computer. Now it's a coaster.

Don't give up Chris. It is challenging to get the stuff working when you're first getting started, but once you get it set up, it's really so convenient. Find a good how to video where they talk you through it or, get yourself onto a music/home studio forum where you can find a helpful person in the know to talk you through it.

I am not sure what you mean by portable install. I don't have a disc for it. I went ahead and paid for it so I wouldn't get the nag screens.

We went to Virginia on Thursday night. We arrived around 1:30 on Friday morning. We were there for my uncle's memorial service.
The coolest part was the Marine flag folding. My uncle was in the Marines during the Korean Conflict. He served for 4 years.
With him having been cremated, they chose not to use a lot of pictures of him. Instead, they brought a lot of pieces of his woodworking. That was also very cool.
My cousin Joyce has to be one of the strongest people ever. She actually played her flute for the memorial. I don't remember the songs, but they were three of my uncle's favorite pieces.
We started the drive home yesterday and made it home safely. Fortunately, we made it thru Knoxville while the UT game was still going on. Traffic in K-town is a beast on game days after the game is over.

Glad to hear it was a good service and that your travels were safe!
We hit a bit of pre-game traffic last week so when we heard there was a game on, we made sure not to go that way until it was over.

I flew to Easter Washington this weekend from my oldest son's wedding ceremony (he's 23). Him and his girlfriend had been dating for 2 years and decided it was time to make it official. It was a little last minute as they sprung it on us back in July. Just got back home this afternoon.

I got off my duff earlier and got my PC cranking again (I mainly use my laptop). I even equipped it with powerful desktop speakers, and am blasting Undercover's "Sea of Tranquility" as I type!

You see a ton of movies (well you used too... before Covid). Did you go see that Ryan Reynolds flick "Free Guy"? I think I've seen the commercial for that one at least 80 times by now and I'm wondering if it's worth the time.

It is near impossible to get good service in a restaurant anymore. I don't know why we even go.
