Cool! Glad to see some new Bride music. I wasn’t too big on his other project The World Will Burn.

Not sure exactly why, but I'm not really digging that at first listen (but the band has always been a bit hit or miss for me).

No that wasn't it. The track sounded muddy (maybe just my headphones) and something about Dales voice seemed kind of "off".

Sounds great to me! Gonahead and label me a fanboy.
I enjoy Dale's other project The World Will Burn. I am also looking forward to the release of his other bands N.O.G. and Perpetual Paranoia.

Wahoo! Look at him go. There's an AC/DC feel to this one. Crab...ew, ew, ew. Love the location. It's on the west coast of NZ (for those who are interested). Amazing dunes you can 'surf' down. Awesome....but I wouldn't want to drink the water (too salty).

Jen, that's nice to know the location where Dale is in the video. New Zealand is a beautiful country.

You're not alone, Staybrite. I don't care for it either. The music is all right but the lyrics don't really say anything:
John The Baptist
In the waking hours of the morning The sun yawns and stretches forth to shine Everything reaches up to feel the light
Tradition, Admission, A Confession and Regression It sounds complicated Like a razor down your spine Like a blind clairovoyant A mute mystic The future is our yesterday For those who wish it
It depends on your perspective So keep looking up The Spirit is not an emotion The light of understanding Understanding if light which reveals everything
Tradition, Admission, A Confession and Regression It sounds complicated Like a razor down your spine Like a blind clairovoyant A mute mystic The future is our yesterday For those who wish it
Through the wilderness I must go I will prepare the way I looked over Jordan and I see Things that others dream
Tradition, Admission, A Confession and Regression It sounds complicated Like a razor down your spine Like a blind clairovoyant A mute mystic The future is our yesterday For those who wish it

I'm really glad you posted those, Xid. I actually like this song (it has a cool vibe), but as a person who writes lyrics, I'm always fascinated by what other songwriters write. He's certainly breaking some rules with these (though that's not always a bad thing; love it or hate it, I do it all the time).
For the most part, the verses make sense, but I'm stumped about the chorus. He's getting quite cryptic. What's "complicated" about "a razor down your spine?" And, what does he mean "the future is our yesterday?" Is the point that we should all regress and, if so, why???? Is there some aspect of the story of John the Baptist that would illuminate the meaning???

The only part of the song that eludes to anything like John the Baptist is:
Through the wilderness I must go I will prepare the way
Even that isn't correct in that John didn't go "through" the wilderness, he lived and preached there preparing the way for Jesus.
The future is our yesterday doesn't make sense unless we've traveled time and certainly nobody can wish into reality for the future to be their yesterday. Though if you wait 48 hours what was once tomorrow will become yesterday.
The first verse is the only one that has any coherence to it and it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the rest of the song.

It's definitely more cryptic than a lot of their previous stuff, but I still think there is a story there.
I read it as JB's calling to the wilderness. It seems to be a recreation of what it was like to begin the day and feel called to service. The sun rises. I look to the light...and receive the light of understanding. In that understanding, all of God's plan for me is revealed and I am drawn into the wilderness to prepare the way.
I still don't get the chorus though.

I'm fine with cryptic songs, but I'd like the band/lyricist to explain what it means.

With the story you just unveiled, the chorus would make me feel that John the Baptist was the undoing of religious tradition. I still don't get the line about the future being our yesterday for those who wish it.

I did the fan backing that Bride did on their website. I paid a little more that way, but they have always come through with preorders for their albums ever since "This Is It" came out. I saw no reason not to get behind this.
What I really keep looking for is the Whiteray preorder. This is the band that would morph into Killed By Cain. Their early Whiteray stuff is more straightforward metal and not the groove styled metal they were known for as KBC. The new Bride and the Whiteray album could easily be my albums for the year.

The CD is $13.99, but the postage is $22!!! That's almost twice the price of the CD just for shipping! Boones is very expensive for that, and I've been put off a number of times because the charge is so high. If they stock Medusa and Whiteray comes out soon I'll probably get all 3 together and hope the postage stays the same (and not become $66!!!!!!!)

The music is okay, and I'm anxious to hear more of that. But the lyrics bugged me because I couldn't understand anything of what he was trying to say. Now that I've read them (thanks Xid!), I still don't know. And when a guy is known for believing heresy, as Dale Thompson is, I can't simply trust that he's not saying something wrong. I still miss Snakes era Bride.

Thankfully, shipping to the USA from Boone's isn't that bad. When Whiteray comes out, I am all over that! I am awaiting the release of the Jerusalem reissues and this new Bride. I have them all preordered!
