You just defined "snow birds" Cool. I didn't even know there was a term for that.

| See you learn something new everyday. If you lived in So. California, Arizona, New Mexico or East Texas you would have grown up with all the locals complaining about snow birds (but not their money). _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| If I went to any of those places I would probably complain about the heat.
Also, technically, you should have said "every day" instead of "everyday".

| It ain't the heat--it's the humidity!
We've had a mild summer here. Usually we're above 100 in TN this time of year. We've had many days so far that have been in the 80s. That's pretty cool. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

AS for the stereotypes, because of the present state of our country I am betting this show is produced primarily by black folks and the stereotypes will be "white people this" and "white people that." Like I said ... reverse bigotry.

Will you please be my mom!? Blackish is about an affluent Black family living in an upscale predominantly White community and is based around the conflict between the desire of the kids to be like their friends and the desire of the dad (Anthony Anderson, not Laurence Fishburne) to keep his family "Black". Yep, sounds like cliches and stereotypes will abound (like Carlton on FPoBA), but let's face it, comedy is and always has been built on stereotypes. Sometimes those stereotypes cross a line, but there are also a lot of people who are just looking for a reason to be offended by things. I think it all depends on how they play the comedy. If the whites come across and morally and intellectually inferior all the time it will be a condescending and stupid. It can be done right, but there is a fine line the writers will have to tread to keep it from coming across as offensive to both blacks and whites. I think a good example was the old show "The Jefferesons". I think they did a good job making both blacks and whites look silly on that show (although Sherman Hemsley's character-who is black-was the brunt of most jokes, the zingers usually came from his wife or maid who where also black). Yes, The Jeffersons was wonderful! The line now I think is finer than it was back when Norman Lear created that show and All in the Family, but it can be managed. My wife and I were talking about Modern Family and the way that EVERYONE on the show is some kind of stereotype so no group can really say they are being depicted unfairly. No one can complain that their group is being stereotyped because all of them are.

No one can complain that their group is being stereotyped because all of them are. Never seen "Modern Family" but I get what you are saying. I remember a stand up comedian or maybe a character in a movie/t.v. show that was accused of being an racists and he said something to the effect that he wasn't a racist, that he just hated everyone equally (of course now it is some stoopid meme and I can't even seem to find the original root of it). With that kind of "over the top" caricature of a stereotype it makes it easier to be seen as a parody and not some kind of passive aggressive dig at some people group. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... | You know those things you can use to outside to use the sun to cook things or heat things up? I thought of those. Actually, one time I remember when we were using them in 6th grade to see how hot they would get and an ant went on mine and it died.

| The rests of hurricane Bertha are gone now. It was not so bad as I thought it would be. There's blowing a very strong wind for 4 days now. | |

| I have to spend tonight in a clinic. Not looking forward to it. I have had problems with snoring and getting a decent night's sleep for several years now (like 10+). My doctor is forcing me to do a sleep trial in a clinic tonight. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

Awe, I have done this twice, it is weird. But, not bad (hardest part is being away from family). Hopefully they figure out what is going on!!
