I know our Missouri businesses have gotten tons of Illinois people since we reopened.

in a bit of good news, due to pushback from restaurants, our Governor has said the contact tracing in restaurants will be voluntary once they reopen. Maybe people on the west side will do it but I'm guessing here on the east side not many will. It's like we're two different states.

Yes. A lot less common sense, antipathy, and outright anger are present.

I think he might have been threatened with a lawsuit or two and realizes that he standing on pretty shaky legs for some of his "requirements". Hopefully this will cause him to loosen up on the reigns/chains. I live about 30 miles south of Seattle (about 10 miles east of Tacoma) and I can tell you that people and business in the suburbs seem to mostly just paying lip-service to much of this nonsense. Some businesses require masks (like Costco), but our local grocery store doesn't (except for employees). You only seem to see maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 customers wearing them in the stores.

My wife said the same thing.

You guys live in a totally different universe than me. New Zealanders or more like sheep. Most of us just do as we're told (including the Prime Minister who is spending her time finding ways to implement the advice of our health professionals, i.e., doing what the medical people tell her to do). I guess it's easier to shepherd and corral 5 million people than 400 million.

Oh, there are millions of sheeple. By, a lot f us are done with government over-reach and we are doing all we can to defy un-Constitutional orders.

Personally, I'm glad for it, Chris. It's meant that we have one of the lowest death rates of any country. Emergency orders are not considered unconstitutional here. They're just temporary orders and we trust our leaders not to abuse the powers. They're expected to review them every week and revise downward if possible (which they have done diligently). We've a different set of circumstances and a different culture for sure.

We are starting to have judges put mayors and governors in check by ruling that their measures are unconstitutional.
It is impossible to trust our leaders here anymore. They intentionally lie, have most of the media in their pockets so that they control the narrative, and constantly use their powers to line their own pockets. For example, we passed a Stimulus bill here to help people that lost their jobs. They borrowed the money for it despite that we are already $20 TRILLION dollars in debt that we can never repay. The common people got a one time check for $1200. The House of Representatives got a permanent $45,000 per year raise. You have Facebook, Google, and Twitter that are run by people who share the same points of view as many leaders and they are using their companies to block any opinions that are counter to theirs.
Politics here are rotten to the core. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them.
On a positive note, most of my state will be lifting restaurant restrictions on Friday. Things like bowling alleys and movie theaters can reopen with social distancing. I am ready, and have been, to reopen everything and let us take our chances. This is mostly how Sweden handled things and their numbers have been no higher than any other European country and actually dropped off faster.

Everything is slowed down from the shutdowns, but Tennessee is normally a thriving state. We've had a lot of industry move here. Nissan builds cars here. Bridgestone still builds truck tires here. Amazon already has one warehouse in my county is building a second one. Every county surrounding Nashville is growing in leaps and bounds. So, I can't tell you what job to look for, but there are jobs aplenty here once the economy starts to recover.
Come on down, and I'll teach you to play a cigar box guitar. Then, I'll finally have a band!

Well, I will pray for your country then, Chris. To not be able to trust your leaders is very sad. Where your leaders took a $45,000 pay rise, our leadership took a 20% pay cut in solidarity with everyone who has lost their jobs through this pandemic. I can't imagine what that must be like to distrust the people who are supposed to be working for you. I hope it all comes right for you. God bless y'all.

Hey, she couldn't help it that the grandson ACCIDENTALLY got loaded into the Ryder truck and brought with you. Depending on the size, I am sure we could find a box he would fit in.

I learned 2 days ago that my position has been eliminated to help the company weather this crisis (after being laid off since Easter). It will be interesting to see how well the auto industry recovers from this. I'm OK with my termination even though I was enjoying the work for the most part. This will result in some changes to what I had been planning, but opens up new opportunities as well - no worries about limited vacation time!
I have been and will continue to do some contract work for my previous employer. God is so awesome that my previous boss actually called me yesterday asking if I wanted more to do. I could likely even go back but won't until after September. I'll re-evaluate my options in October.

We have had one mayor write a letter to our governor. He was openly criticizing the mayor of Nashville (and all Davidson County) for holding TWO peaceful protests over the George Floyd killing. This mayor of Maury County said that if the mayor of the most highly affected county could do things like this against his own directives and that of the governor then we should be able to open all counties. The mayor of Maury Co. has asked local businesses to decide if they want to do masks or not. Other than that, he has ordered his county back to work effective immediately. I applaud this man!

Well it is good to hear you have other options (and were offered more work). Sadly I have read that it is expected that some 40% of jobs lost to lay-offs will not return. Possibly not for years.

Although I am not one to usually contact politicians, I did email Gov. Bill Lee to let him know what I thought of these shutdowns especially with him praising the peaceful protests held in Nashville with thousands gathered. That goes against the governor's orders and is extremely hypocritical.

I'm afraid now there's more possible here. The people don't take the social distance so strict anymore.
They think we're getting a second corona golf in fall.

I think there may be some truth to the idea that the virus is losing potency as time goes on...we have had several new cases here in my area, but they're all very mild symptoms. Local Health Dept said that none of them even had a fever, and the other symptoms were similar to seasonal allergies.

Cases picking up here like wild fire, work buckling down on masks and temp checks. Many of the cases here are not mild as hospital beds are filling up locally. As of right now on my tracker only 2 hospital beds are available.
