Which do you like the best...

Volume 2 by a mile!  Why?

I haven't heard Volume 2 in a long while. Probably because I only have it on cassette. I guess I'll need to pull out my tape deck and try it out again.

So, in the mean time I will have to say the original.

Probably have to confess that I like them both equally.

I would say equally as I have never owned or heard either.

When I see the bands of California Metal I think I like it.

I also like Volume 2 a little better because they had some lesser known bands on it like Emerald.

I am a little surprised..I was always under the impression that these 2 albums were considered classic must own albums by the christian metal community....

I've never been big on Various Artists albums.

I don't think they've ever been re-released, or have they?

California metal 1 is usually expensive but i snagged mine pretty cheap on cd...

The band HERO on 1...did they ever release a full length album...

Definitely Volume 2....I still have my original cassette from 1988

Why do you suppose they went from such phenomenal high quality 80s cheese cover art on #1 to just a boring title on 2 ?  Shame they didn't carry the artwork into #2

I kind of like the minimalist look of #2.....sometimes album cover art is too busy for my tastes, all I need to know is the artist and the title.

I like them both. 

California Metal holds a special place because it was the first in the Regency Series. Barren Cross, Neon Cross, Guardian, Mastedon.....I also believe this is the only place to get this version of the BC and Mastedon songs, as they recorded them specifically for this release (if my memory serves right).

But CM2 has Vision (aka Malachia), Judea, Recon, and Soldier....so I might have to choose CM2.

I seem to remember having a CD in a slim jewel case. It was a compilation disc and I remember it had Ken Tamplin on it and some Shout Music. It also had music from VR and an interview with Roger. For the life of me I cannot remember what kind of compilation CD it was or if I am getting it mixed up with another but I remember interviews with Ken and Roger. Not sure if they were on the same disc or not. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

That had to be it but I seem to remember Shout being on there too with an inteview with Ken. More than likely I had both and are getting them confused for a single disc. I asked Scott Waters about it once and he wasn't sure what I was talking about either. Might be one of those mysterious albums that my mind created!
