| Shane Speal - 12 Stones (not a Christian album--only got because of his phenomenal cigar box guitar skills)
Casting Crowns - Glorious Day-Hymns Of Faith (Cracker Barrel Exclusive) _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| I was off work today so decided to hit the nearby local thrift shops and found the following:
Cassette - California Metal - "California Metal" Idle Cure - "2nd Avenue"
I also found the following on VHS - Godzilla vs. Gigan Godzilla vs. Biollante Godzilla's Revenge King Kong vs. Godzilla Godzilla King Of The Monsters Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster Godzilla Raids Again Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla Godzilla vs. Destoroyah Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle For Earth
I guess this means I need to pull the old VCR out of mothballs and fire it up, huh?

- Pre-order from Amazon.com arrived yesterday.
First Impression (based of a single spin)
- good, solid album by a group of professionals.
- love the growling vox mixed with clean vox on the first couple of songs
- nice occasional use of violins, piano, and other symphonic-type instruments
- lyrics are straight forward; no doubt these are Christians singing Christian songs
- pretty mellow overall. No thrash, speed, power, etc; just straight forward, thumping rock. The mosh pit residents can take a break!
- Worth the money? yes. Worth the wait? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

| Leah - "Kings & Queens"
I purchased the CD earlier this afternoon at Zia's Record Exchange. Initially, I searched the "Metal' section and could not find it and got kind of bummed (thinking I was going to have to order it online and wait a week or more before hearing it). I was even considering the download route.
However, as I was browsing the 'Rock/Pop' section I happened to glance over and found it among the other letter 'L' titles- three copies as a matter of fact! My only guess is that they thought she must be a pop diva without researching the artist first...

Perhaps, but after listening I'm sure you'll agree that while she's not really pop or rock, it's sometimes hard to call her metal as well.

My most accurate guess would be a joining of symphonic metal, Gothic rock and Celtic music. "Kings & Queens" is reported to be her heaviest album.

Good choice- I got this several weeks ago. It is a bit more progressive than expected, plus the group mixes both male and female vocals.

I'm really bummed because I didn't get a chance to listen to it this weekend, and I forgot to bring it to work today....so I still haven't heard it. I'm not a huge fan of prog, so I'm hoping the longer songs don't leave me unsatisfied. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| The Petra tribute is good... not sure if you'd like it as it's mostly 90s popular bands like Audio Adrenaline, Plankeye, Galactic Cowboys, MxPx, Sixpence None the Richer, Grammatrain, Jars of Clay and the like.
It's NOT "the Sweet Family Tribute" crud... it's much better put together and has some really good interpretations (not as good as Petra themselves, but pretty good nonetheless)

| I don't usually do so good with the local thrift stores; usually all they have is junk. However, I scored big today! I know most folks probably just threw up at seeing the Pavarotti one! LOL! The Stryper one is a duplicate; I thought my current copy was digital only (oops). <== TRADE FODDER! There were a couple of Opeth CDs I passed on, but I'm seriously considering going back to get them (they confuse me; wikipedia says they are heavy metal, but everything I hear on YT is so ... mellow!). There were also three Overkill CDs and a couple of Metal Blade compilation CDs that I wasn't interested in. I was just very surprised at the number of heavy metal CDs there! I also picked up some great big band records at a garage sale. Three guesses at how old the homeowners were! | |

I just thought it was going to be a "one of these doesn't go with the others" games. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

You got some nice stuff there. I still need to pick up some of these as well. Kim Hill and that Point of Grace album are excellent. Wes King is another one of those underrated gems. That Keith green tribute is a classic.

| I picked up Geoff Tate's S/T at a Salvation Army thrift store for a buck. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was mildly surprised. I was happy to hear it was not a Queensryche type of album; I love it when people from (or formerly from) a well-known band do something completely different when on their own. | |
