Star Wars 7 in the works!!!

Disney announced today that they had bought Lucasfilm for $4 billion dollars and are releasing a new film in 2015.

Way cool..I am a star wars fan. My wife favors star trek...klingon empire to be exact.

Trek is always superior to Star Wars, but it is cool that Star Wars will be continuing.

Nice! It will be interesting to see where they take the storyline.....

Star Trek was better because it was a show rather than just movies.

I like Star wars and trek both!!! Each have there own individual characteristics that make each so intriguing.

I love them both as well. Trek will always be better though!


Of course, there is a reason I am partial. Star Trek was one of the things my dad and I had in common. We saw all but one movie from The Search For Spock onward together. Good memories.

Star Trek is better because it's true science fiction. Star Wars is great action adventure set in space. Comic book sci-fi basically. More along the lines of Buck Rogers or Flash Gordon. Not that it's not good, it's very good for what it is, but it's just not true sci-fi.

I always wished they'd make Isaac Asimov's Foundation series into movies. It would make Trek and Wars look silly.

It will keep them busy to some time.

It'd be cool to see a MUCH improved Battlestar Galactica movie... I think they could pull something like that off today with a better storyline and effects.

This could be very cool....looking forward to what they do with it.

Not at all looking forward to this, especially from Disney.

Will be interesting to see what Disney does with this. However, I still haven't seen the original three (I saw Episode I and Episode II, and possibly III as well), so I guess I should do that before I go see the new one in a few years.

Speaking of space/sci-fi films, has anyone here seen Spaceballs? It remains one of my favorites.

Speaking of Sci-fi last Saturday I turned on the sci-fi channel on dish oh about 10:30 or so. They were running a Falling Skies Marathon. you know the one about the aliens form another planet wiping out about 90% of the population of earth and the remnant trying to wage war aginst them. Anywho I set there like a slug all day till about 7:00pm watching it. Did not get a thing done that I needed too. Silly Sci-fi channel LOL

I much prefer Star Wars to Star Trek, and am happy to hear that there will be new movies as I always thought the Star Wars universe was big enough to make quite a few different styles of movie. A friend suggested Christopher Nolan as directing it, which would be an excellent choice. Either that or Peter Jackson!

Not Jackson. NO. The movies would be incredibly long for no reason. Nolan might be good, but only if they do a total restart.

Right now, there is a lot of talk about doing episodes 7, 8, & 9 with stories about Luke, Leia, and Han. How that happens considering the age of the actors is going to be interesting. However, I would like to see that happen.

My guess would be one of two takes.

1. They pick up shortly after ROTJ with all new actors......could be good or bad.
2. They pick up much much much later with some/all the original actors.....and it probably will be bad....lol

I had heard that the story is supposed to pick up about 30 years after ROTJ.

I was reading an article where Mark Hamil was saying that he met with Lucas recently (Aug. I think) and was told that they want the original actors. With using the technology Disney has already used in the Tron sequel, they can shave years off the original cast's faces with digital imaging. I think they could do it and have them looking like they did in the 80's.
