| Ok, so I've always loved Star Wars. I first saw part IV when I was about 6, in 1980 at a friends party and have loved them ever since. Out of ten (you knew that was coming, didn't you!......) I'd give them....
Part IV - 9/10 Part V - 9/10 Part VI - 8/10 Part I - 7/10 Part II - 5/10 Part III - 8/10
I thought part I was pretty much underrated and the reviewers couldn't see that it was made with kids in mind, but still held on to the addicts aspect.
What has annoyed me (slightly) is that I've just watched part IV again, but this time with the better s/fx's on them. And to me alot of them spoil the actual feel of the film.
There's the bit where Luke and co go off to Alderaan. First those two robots are just silly (one makes a silly noise, then the other punches it). Next that big creature tosses its rider on the ground. Next when they get to the place where Han Solo is, the creature at the entrance makes too loud a noise (just so we can all say 'oh look, that's a new bit!). Next Han is shot before he shoots - bit of political correctness. Next is when Han meets Jabba, and walks over his tail - that just looks wrong. I'm not sure how they could have changed it, but they could have, somehow.
I dunno, I just wish they would have left most of the stuff alone.

| I agree that some of the new effects stuff in episodes 4-6 seemed a little heavy handed (especially within the context of the rest of the film). But I think some of your (and my) complaining could just be the nostalgia talking. Nobody likes their beloved music/movies etc being messed with. I will say I really like the new scene in episode IV where Han is talking with Jaba in the hanger bay. That was pretty cool. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| These movies are of the Devil and your minds are being corrupted with New Age philosophies... JK I saw Star Wars IV at the theater in '77 and stood in a line that literally wrapped around an entire block. (the same with Empire) I love IV and V. VI was cool with the completion of the story, but dissappointed in several areas for me. I've always thought the Ewoks were retarded. (I know, lots of people just love those little things ). I don't know if it's cuz of my age, but when I, II and III came out, I really didn't get into them as much as the others. We all identified with the characters back in the 70s, 80s and couldn't wait to see them in the next ones... I guess the newer ones were necessary to tell the "pre" story of the older ones. But the dilemma is that I,II,III shows people with better technology and cooler toys than those of IV,V,VI. It's the dilemma of filming backwards over a 20 year period. If you watch them in order today, it looks like the story goes forward while their technology goes backwards. I don't know how I got off on that... Yes I dig the series, way more than Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica. Just didn't care much for the Jar Jar Binks era. | |

| I absolutely loved the original trilogy. Nothing George Lucas puts out will ever top that. A lot of that, though, is because he was smart enough to use different directors for these films. He had a lot of help getting the right emotion for those films. I actually don't mind the updated versions with the better effects. Those movies will age better because of that. With the new trilogy, Lucas just showed that he is a good storywriter, but not a great director. You never really feel a connection to the newer characters. Even after Anakin goes to the Dark Side, you never really feel the change. The only reason why Epi. 3 was tolerable was because the audience was ready to see Darth Vader on screen. Lucas should have used different directors for the new ones. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

I sure did. I don't like 3 because of the transformation. 4 is the best though. I saw it in a theater when it released. I can remember the theater exterior but not the actual movie (from that first viewing). | As a series I'd say that V is the best film. But on it's own I'd say that IV is the best. You can't really watch Empire without seeing Star Wars, and then watching Return afterwards (otherwise it just seems abit silly). Does anyone else think that The Phantom Menace was underrated, or is that just me. Fundy (oh, and you're right, Alldat. Lucas should have used different directors for each of the new films) _________________ My Christian Metal Website......... Silence Is Madness

| Star Wars , Star Trek. It's confusing me. That shows you I never have seen any movie of both. What is the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek? | |

| Hmmm difficult question. Star Wars is a story about a boy and his friends struggling against the evil galactic empire. This same evil empire just happens to be headed (for the most part) by the boy (or the boys father) depending on which movies you are watching. Star Trek is about a group of adventures exploring space in the their 600,000 billion dollar space ship, that didn't cost any money really because society has advanced to the point where they don't even use money. They are all much more enlightened then us here in the 21st century. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

That's enough money to buy all the CDs for many years for all the CHM members. Then we can order all CDs we like to have. | |

No joke. And just imagine how much is spent in the pornography industry alone. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."
