We had a good time, and that's all that matters. Sabidoo and I both were able to break our personal records for finds. That's a plus!

That must be fun to do a geocache race with geo cache friends.

We planned to find two caches in the park close to our hotel.
Yesterday it started to snow and this morning there was fallen 9 inches of snow.
No caches to find due the snow.

I found one today after school with nothing but the clue. I have been to find this one several times and knew where to look, but there have always been too many people around. Today, no one was around, and I went for it without my GPS. BINGO! Right where I thought it would be!

I'm looking forward to search for more in the weekend.
Have you ever searched for caches when there was snow?

Do you have had the same?
Trying to find a cache and you can't find it?
Grrrr .... it's so frustrating to know the cache must be there while you can't find it.

I hope even though you didn't win with the cache race that you have had fun to search with sabidoo.

Yes, my very first time was in the snow. We found 3 that day. The next couple of times I went was in the snow as I had to wait until school was closed for the weather to go again.

Yes. I do get aggravated at not being able to find some caches. But, sometimes they are really missing. Sometimes, I am the one making the find a lot harder than it needs to be. Eventually, you will find it. I had one cache in Mt. Juliet, TN that I had to hunt for 4 times and log a DNF. I finally got smart, called a buddy who had found it for a hint, and even looked at the satellite imagery to get a better idea of where this cache was hidden. The satellite image helped the most. On the 5th try, I got it within seconds.

Just keep at it, and you will eventually find it.

We still have to find "Heavy".

We are "newbie cachers"and have to learn a lot about finding caches.
We have found a new multiple cache, but you need to walk many miles for it.

Walk miles? I'd find a way to drive and get closer to the next stage of the find.

Oh, you aren't called a "newbie" in geocaching. You are called a NEOcacher, or neo, for short. Once you find 100 caches, you are a full fledged GEOCACHER.

This neo has to learn a lot.
I'm reading on the geocache website more about all the different cahces you can search and about benchmarks, geocoins and trackables.

Saw you have find almost 600 caches.
Wow that's a lot.

You know what fun is to find a lot of chaches at one day.
The weather here is very winterish so it's very cold outsite or there's snow and ice.

It is very cold here too. But, since I have no class to sub for today, I think I am going geocaching anyway!

Have a good time to find some more chaches.
Tell me what caches you have found.

What GPS do you use?

sabidoo and I both have the Garmin eTrex Venture HC. They are rather basic units, but they do a really great job. The only thing I wish they could do is hold all of the cache info from the page on the GPS. So, I am wanting a new GPS so I can go paperless and hunt with all the clues onscreen.

Yes it's a multiple cache and you have to walk many many miles to find the cache.
Let me figure out what a Garmin etrex Venture HC can do.
By the way what a long name for a tiny device. Smile

When we do multiple chaches I'm the "writer" of the team, so to go paperless is something I want too.

We use a Garmin etrex Vista HCx.
A tiny device but with so many things that for me it's a bit to complicated.
I hope the app for BlackBerries is a bit simpler to use.

We have very similar GPSrs.

I found quite a few micros today, and I found a few regular caches (ammo boxes). I also found that my wife has to come unlock the truck for me when I lock myself out of my vehicle. Ah, I at least got to find 3 more caches while I waited!

the good part of this was you find tree caches more.
The bad part was I hope it wasn't very cold.
Or ...... put a spare key of your truck in your geocache bag.

That would have been great, but I had locked my bag in the car too. I am just glad I had my phone on me!

I picked up two more caches near Mt. Juliet today. I dropped off one travelbug and picked up another.

Glad you were so smart to have your cell with you.
I'm searching so we can find geocoins and travelbugs too.
I hope there are no bears around where you live.

Grabbed 16 more caches today pushing me to 603. I have well overshot my goal for 2010. My new goal is 1000 by Jan. 8, 2011. I think I can do it!

We have found 3 micro's on Sunday.

The geocoins and the trackables are they only to find in the US?
I've searched on our geochaching website, but could't find something about trackables or geocoins.

We log the finds in English so you can read it too.

Travelbugs and geocoins are for every geocacher. I currently have one that is somewhere in England. When you go to the www.geocaching.com website, there is a link on the left side of the page that says "Trackables". You can click on that and find out all you need to know.

I think we are going to find some caches downtown after church.
We have to do some other things, but not caching on Sunday is not cool.

I don't usually go on Sunday's with me having both the morning and night services that I have to be there for. There are very few caches close to my house that I have not already found. So, I have to drive a little ways to go caching. It makes it hard to have to rush back and get back to church on time.

Again lots of snow are spoiling the geocache fun tormorrow.
We planned to find two caches you onlt can do on Saturday because the mills is open.
I hope we can go out for geocaching on Sunday.

I can imagine that Sunday is not a good day for you for geocaching with two services. When you are geocaching you need the time.
