I would rather see that from most artists.  Occasionally rerecords or good, but I say they are only necessary if the original quality can be improved substantially and/or it is the only way to get the music in the hands of fans.

I love Chris LeDoux (yes, I know - a country artist) but really, I only want his 10 major label albums. Before getting signed, he released over 20 independent albums but if you look at the track listings, he recorded a lot of songs several times.
