SNOW?!

Believe it or not, we are getting snow this far south on the Gulf Coast.

This was taken a few hours ago after it started.

I am 8 hours north of you and we have no snow whatsoever.  Of course, you probably don't have single digit temps, either.

6am Tues and freezing rain. Was supposed to get an inch of snow but it doesn't look like it will get here. 31 degrees now. I am supposed to drive to Atlanta on business today..... Just gonna wait around.

I WISH it was 31 degrees here!  I checked the outside temps when I woke up and it was -2 here!  All of the sudden, I feel like I live in Canada!  Where's that global warming at now, Al?

Last night it was freezing a bit.
For now this winter is not cold, it's not freezing very hard, I haven't seen snow.
Let's keep it like it is till it's spring.

I just checked the temp for here,it is 20 right now.

Dang I just got a text message from my friend in the Air Force (he's stationed in Florida!!!) saying it's a snow day for the AF hahaha!

And we are not getting our usual amount of snow which, being this is cropland, people are starting to panic about water in the Summer.

^This morning I had to shower at my parents' place because the well where I live dried up.  We need rain SO badly...

Seriously tho' they are saying so many schools are closed,certain roads are closed and even simply telling people to just stay off the roads.Mainly we are not prepared for something like this. They showed an image where a camera was looking over the interstate and semi's were virtually at a stand still. I am contemplating calling in to work tonight and just stay home. Normally I have to take the I-65 north about 15 minutes at normal speed limit to get there. Under these conditions it could take me at least an hour.

Yes indeed!  That's definitely a locals-favorite here.  I think the Boardwalk shows that movie every summer during their movies-on-the-beach thing!  I haven't seen that one in a while though; gotta fix that!

Spent a day the boardwalk at Santa Cruz about 24 years (when I was passing through). Very cool boardwalk. It wasn't til about 10 years later I heard somewhere that the Santa Cruz area was the local for "Santa Clara" in the Lost Boys film. I also remember visiting a shady place called "The Mystery Spot".

Ha The Mystery Spot!  I went there when I was like 10 and even then was pretty underwhelmed...  It's amazing how many bumper stickers you see 'round here though for that place.  There's actually one car I see from time-to-time that is completely covered (sans the windows of course) with Mystery Spot stickers!  Oh look, I found it:



But speaking of snow and Santa Cruz, it HAS snowed here a couple times in the 27 years I've lived here...

San Antonio and Houston had snow/sleet/freezing rain and DFW just had cold temperatures.

Does the Mystery Spot car roll up-hill under the power of gravity alone?   

I remember as we were walking away from "The Mystery Spot" that I said out-loud "They should just rename it the Slanty Shanty".

Haha!!!  Yeah it'd be "false advertising" if the car didn't!  "Slanty Shanty" sounds much more appropriate...  A few of my friends always wondered what it'd be like to go there after consuming lots of alcohol hahaha...    Even then, it probably wouldn't be worth it!

I don't see what all the commotion is about- we're right around 75 degrees here in Phoenix.  

It is zero here this morning.  The wind chill is -9.

Right now it is 22 and they expect it to get up to 48 this afternoon. The sun is already out in full force so most of the snow/sleet should be gone today.

For the first time in this winter I see ice on the pound.
It's only for some days.
Tomorrow the winter will be gone.
