In addition to Billingsley, according to Deadline, A Christmas Story Christmas will see the return of four additional actors from the original 1983 film: Ian Petrella as Randy, Zack Ward as Scut Farkus, Scott Schwartz as Flick and R.D. Robb as Schwartz.
They had me at Scut Farkus!

Hopefully it's a fun movie but I'm not holding my breath that it will recapture the magic of A Christmas Story.

I love the original, so I will definitely see this!

Does anyone remember the second movie they did? I think it had a completely different cast and was just called "A Christmas Story 2". I'm almost certain I never saw it, but I heard it wasn't so great.

I have it on DVD. I thought it was fun for what it was.

Actually, the second movie is called “My Summer Story”. It’s fun as well but a different cast as it was made about 10 years after the first one. But it was still Bob Clarke and Jean Shepard. So the style and narration is exactly like the first and they did a decent job with the cast. Only Miss Shields reprised her role but obviously the original kids had grown up by the time it was made. I also like the fact that they used the original house.
It was originally planned to film immediately after the original movie but since the original flopped in theaters Bob Clarke didn’t get to make it until years later.

I watched this on Thanksgiving. While not as funny as the first one, it was a decent watch.

Oh yes, not as innovative as the first one, but certainly entertaining.

I had forgotten about that movie completely! I have heard of it but haven't seen it. Perhaps I will just to see if they play off anything from it in the new film.
