No better way to hear something different than with the latest volume (#9) of Fleas Naughty Dog.
This is true, I'll definitely be downloading that one, thanks!

For me it's the classics.
My favorite is a complication LP we had when I was a kid. I found it a couple of years ago and ordered a copy. Can't post a photo from my phone for some reason but it is on discogs Here
Also picked up the green vinyl version of Nat King Cole's Christmas album, Sinatra on red vinyl and Bing Crosby on white vinyl. To round out my top 5 (in no particular order) I have Vince Giraldi's Charlie Brown Christmas on green vinyl.
So for me it's the standard classics.

Same. In fact, other than TSO, I've never really gotten into metal versions of Christmas songs.

I like the Hard Rock/Metal versions as long as they are done right. If they stray too far from the original and/or try too hard to be metal then the song usually loses its flair.

Since I am showing songs from How The Grinch Stole Christmas, here is another song from the Jim Carrey movie that has been immortalized in metal:

I love the song from the movie as that is how I eel so many years. Christmas just doesn't FEEL like it did when I was a kid. The commercialism sucks joy out of it for me. The supposed "war on Christmas" that so many far right-winger spew every year wears on me, too, as there is nothing in the Scriptures that even remotely told the early church to commemorate the birth of Christ. Even with the Lord's supper, we were to take it to proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. Are we even supposed to have "Christmas" realistically?
I know--my brain is weird with all sorts of thoughts.
Regardless of my musings, I TRY to be Christmas-y and I do so by finding unique versions of songs because record companies sure aren't pushing NEW Christmas songs.

Point of Grace - A Christmas Story (my favorite Christmas album ever) Johnny Mathis - Merry Christmas Michael W. Smith - Christmas and Christmastime Carrie Underwood - My Gift Chris Tomlin - Adore (I could say a lot I don’t like about Tomlin’s music, but this album is fantastic)
I like a lot of others but those are consistent favorites.

I downloaded the new "Fleas Naughty Dog" compilation but only liked two songs. So, I took the two tracks by Darkhorse Hero and Kardia Komplex, added the new Christmas tune by The Brave, and downloaded several tracks from YouTube and made a new compilation.
I'll post the track list when I have more time. I need to get ready for church.

Christmas songs I've recently liked:
Hello Noon - Carol of the Bells The Dollyrots - just about any of their Christmas stuff The Sugarpills - Chiron Beta Prime
These were all free downloads, at least at the time I got them.

Here is the tracklist for the compilation that I made for myself. A couple of the tracks are heavier than I usually like, but I will only play them at Christmas.
1. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Leo Moracchioli 2. Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - Orion's Reign 3. Crazy Christmas - Blaze Bailey 4. All I Want For Christmas Is You - My Chemical Romance 5. Christmas Everyday - The Brave 6. Misfit Toys - Kardia Complex 7. The Chipmunk Song - Leo Moracchioli 8. You're A Mean One, Mr Grinch - Small Town Titans 9. Deck The Halls - Orion's Reign 10. Let It Go - Conner Engstrom 11. Naughty Christmas - Lacuna Coil 12. This Day - Darkhorse Hero 13. It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas - Leo Moracchioli 14. This Christmas - Majestica 15. O Holy Night - Adrienne Cowan 16. Where Are You Christmas? - Valyant 17. Christmas Time - The Darkness 18. Jingle Bell's - Orion's Reign 19. The Magic Of Christmas Day - Dee Snider & Lzzy Hale 20. Last Christmas - Leo Moracchioli
You can find most of these on YouTube. Only two are actually Christian artists as far as I know.

FYI, a Tim Bushong song was added to Fleas Naughty Dog 9 on the 8th if you downloaded it before then.

I will grab that and add it to my playlist I mentioned earlier. It would be a great closer track, I think.

"He" are a 4-person band with a couple women. Unless you don't listen to online Christian rock radio, you've almost certainly heard their hit single "Ready Aim". I'm pretty sure it was #1 for a while.

My wife likes to play these on the TV while she reads in the living room. We just bring up YouTube on the TV and play it quietly. There are a ton of them, some a few hours some 24 hours.

So many great recommendations! Thanks everyone for your input. I have some awesome new tunes for this year and have been playing them in my car I particularly love non-traditional songs since the traditionals have been played out and covered too many times. It's nice to hear something new

For me, I don't mind redone classics as long as it is something that really catches my attention. The playlist I put together has quite a few songs that have been redone and redone. They were just so much fun, though, that it makes them fresh again. Sprinkling in some metal Christmas songs that were new, or new to me, was also a fun endeavor.
Also, finding some songs that Brian Setzer Orchestra had done that were not on the two albums of his I have was also fun. I edited the album files by deleting the instrumentals I didn't like. Then, I added these songs to those lists, edited the meta-data, and then embedded the artwork into those new tracks. Now, there are no songs on those two albums that I don't like! I fixed them!!!!
