To me , their first 3 ones are basically perfect Hard'n'Heavy . Then "In the Kingdom" is O.K. , but the "Heavy Metal" side of things was gone . Then we have this c00l album called "High Gear" that I checked for the first time in 2007 , which I think reabsorbs a little of the "Heavy Metal" from their 80's classics .
This is "Essential Whitecross" to me , plus the re - recording of the first Album . And there's a recent live album as well which souds fantastic . But I'm not much a fan of their 90's "semi Grunge" albums ...

Whitecross, Hammer & Nail and Triumphant Return are really good minus the drums on the 1 & 2.
In the Kingdom is all right.
High Gear is weak.
Unveiled is lame.

I love what they did with 1987. That was really cool, and possibly better than their S/T.

Imo they haven't aged well, the only one I listen to now is 1987.

I still love those first five albums. I also like "Unveiled" but wish it could have been done with Rex. Barry Graul was just not a good fit. Scott would have done well to grab Bill Heller (Fighter) that he worked with on his solo song "One God, One Love".

My favorite is still the first one I heard "Hammer & Nail". I found a copy of it in my local public library, of all places.

Hammer and Nail is fantastic . These first 3 helped me in reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hard times , years and years ago . Not only the music is jawdropping , but the lyrics are as uplifting as they can be ...

2 times the band played here in Brazil , this was in 2014 . Everything was fine until they started playing "In the Kingdom" , the stupid translater decided he was the singer instead of Scott Wenzel (lol) .

I love the first album, and really like the next four. After they split with Rex, I lost interest. I like 1987, but the lack of those big 80s drums ruined it for me. I loved the heavy reverb used so heavily in the 80s. It ruins songs from that era when they are re-recorded with normal drums. If I’d heard 1987 now for the very first time, I’d love it. But since I grew up listening to the first album in all it’s reverb glory, I just can’t get into 1987 much.
