I finally got off my butt and ran the disk defragmenter for my PC. Oh man, is it faster!!

It is so weird to see y'all talking about freezing temperatures while I'm sitting here in a singlet, shorts, and bare feet wishing I had short hair (or no hair). Ugh! I think comfort is somewhere in between here and there. Maybe Mexico.

It's a computer program that eliminates the blank spaces between files. The more blank places, the harder the machine has to work; the fewer, faster.

Our turn will come. LOL
I have a couple of FB buddies in Cali that like to brag about their temps when the rest of us are snowed in and experiencing extreme cold. When we get in the 80s in TN, they are often suffering 100 and above temps. That's when I like to sling the mud right back at them about those warmer winters.
We hit 60 yesterday and our 5 inches of snow and 1 1/2 inches of ice underneath began a fast melt. Rain overnight has helped. There are still some snowy spots, but they will be gone soon. I am so glad, too!

Hmm, that sounds very promising. My computer could sure use a break. She's a very hard working machine.

I hear ya. I split the workload between my PC and my laptop. The laptop handles my writing tasks and more of the day-to-day work; while the PC does everything else.

Thanks Derek, I'll look at doing that.
I'm like that too Brian. I do most of my day-to-day work on a laptop. Certainly any writing I do is on the laptop (or paper). If I'm video editing, I use the PC, but everything else is on the laptop so that I can have it sitting near my keyboard etc. I link it up to a big monitor though so I'm not stuck looking at a small screen.

We hit 71 degrees yesterday! It was so nice!
It is kind of surreal, though, as we still have huge piles of snow piled up where they plowed a lot of parking lots.

The true trick is using both computers simultaneously, and trying to remember which mouse controls which computer!!

I've been homeschooling the kids.
What that does mean is that personally... I've brushed up on my maths, have discovered all about penguins, ecosystems, biomes, William Shakespeare, and the main bones of the human body. I've improved my art, so now I can do shading, have created a pulley system, made a boat move with washing up liquid and have finally (after 47 years) learnt what a noun is. This does mean that my brain has now melted.

Our kids are home but not home schooled. Still doing distance learning. While there are reports that some kids have struggled with online school our kids have thrived. No bad grades at all. Our oldest has one class on campus (Florida State) and the rest are online. I think even one of them has no set time and no professor. It's just a teach yourself course with instructions on what to do (a CSI class). So far she has had to create a crime scene, upload photos of it and made a homemade blood spatter project on different types of blood spatter/splatter. Sounds interesting at least to me but it is making her decide she doesn't want to work crime scenes. They have a digital autopsy coming up.

Yeah, sounds gruesome and probably is because it will be an autopsy that's crime related so it's not like it's someone who died of natural causes. And it won't be a real person since it's digital. If she had an actual Crime Lab class in person they use a dummy. When we toured the school they took us thru the crime lab and it was pretty cool but due to covid her lab is now online.

Mrs. Staybrite was never so smart as when she was homeschooling all three of our children. You learn some really cool stuff teaching those classes as an adult.

Cool! I remember taking an EMT class for certification at a local Technical College when I was in the Army. They made us fill 1-liter I.V. bags with red food coloring and cut them open over various ground surfaces (grass, gravel, sidewalk, asphalt) so we could see what one or two liters of blood-loss looked like on the ground.

So for anyone who doesn't have anything better to do tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon, join me on "The Other Side of Rock" radio show at 2pm (PST) and 5pm (EST). During the interview if you have any questions you can ask in the comments on Facebook and I'll do my best to answer. This 2 hour show will feature music from Evans and Stokes and a conversation with me about the songwriting process, inspiration, faith, ministry and anything else that comes up. Audio Only at www.turadiopositivaonline.com and Live Video at https://www.facebook.com/Tu-Radio-Positiva-165168796848618 The show is in Spanish so I'll be talking through an interpreter. If you're watching the live video feed you can just mute it until you see my face appear, indicating that the interview has started. If you check it out and like the format, you can scroll down their feed to Jan 31st where you can catch an interview with Dale Thompson.
