Keep him in your prayers.
For those of you that know him, he tends to be fairly private on things like this and vocal about others. He hasn't made this public, so please just keep it to yourselves unless he does post about it.
I do notice he finally posted it one facebook. Certainly praying for his "stubborn self" to get better. He can certainly be a cantankerous guy, but still has a great heart. Too soon for him to leave his wife, daughter and grandson.

Oh gosh, horrible news. Praying he will be able to recover and get out of the hospital.

Update on boss's wife. Still in ventilator and not looking good. Doctors told him she has a less than 20% chance to survive as of yesterday.
I feel bad for your daughter, two of my grandsons just started kindergarten and first grade and are excited to go back to school this week... hopefully they will get to stay there. Very sorry to hear about your bosses wife, that doesn't sound good at all.

My brother is recovering nicely after getting the infusíon of antibodies. Now, his wife has it.
Justin Murr of LnJ has it and isn't doing well at all.

I saw that post on the CMR about Justin Murr (of Liberty N Justice). I read the description to my wife (who works in a hospital...as if I haven't said that 100 times). She cringed and said that doesn't sound good at all. John's wife (from E&S) was able to recover after being put on a ventilator and she is at home (after spending too long in the hospital). However, my wife said that typically isn't the norm sadly.

That's good news. He's of the age-group and weight class (like myself) that is in a bad category to be messing with that stuff. Of course his lungs are probably a lot stronger than mine.

If your company wants to mandate that you get a vaccine, ask them who will sign off and take responsibility if it has an adverse affect on you.

I am sad to report my boss's wife passed away yesterday. She had been on a ventilator since Aug 2. She was tough to last that long and would make improvements but finally took a turn for the worst on Friday. Prayers to his family please.

In Tennessee, if your employer mandates this, then it can actually be filed under worker's comp if you have serious effects on you.

It's the same here. If you get an adverse reaction, it comes under worker's comp. That said, they're not mandating vaccine over here, just strongly encouraging...like...all the time...every day. Sorry you guys are feeling pressed into it. Still, the reality is that the vaccine (Pfizer especially) has been administered to billions of people. Yes, you might have a reaction, but serious side effects are pretty rare. Compared with the virulence of Delta and the potential to pass it to other, more vulnerable people if you have covid, the vaccine is a nothing. It's just a way to protect the people around you....

My wife's hospital is nearly over-run with Delta variant Covid patients (none of which are vaccinated). All the ICU rooms have been converted into 2-bed rooms (normally single patient rooms) due to the overflow. Sadly the morticians have been having to make more frequent visits to pick up new "customers".

Oh yes. Oddly enough my wife's boss wasn't (said she was scared of the shot). I say wasn't because now that she has been one of those hospitalized covid patients she has changed her mind (been there about 3 weeks, but seems to be improving).
However, neither Mrs Staybrite or myself is at all a fan of vaccination mandates.

It's becoming more common, people who were afraid of the vaccine, got covid, and then became advocates for vaccine. It's weird how so many folks think the vaccine was rushed through so is unsafe. That's just not true. The only reasons it was so quick to market is that it was made priority number 1 and it was based on an existing vaccine so they had a head start (I'm talking Pffizer here). Can you imagine the lawsuits if they did cut corners on safety?!. It's amazing that your wife's boss, someone working in healthcare, wasn't adequately informed. It's no wonder that so many of us in the world were afraid when even healthcare workers didn't have the information. Totally crazy.

My guess is because that this one became a political issue rather than a health one? I would guess most our kids went to public rather than private or home school and believe most public school systems have mandated various vaccinations for decades now and while there are anti-vax people there has never been the huge uproar like now.

Being uninformed isn't all that surprising to me since the huge majority of people would not take the time to research anything in any real depth but get their info from social media.
It is interesting that the % of healthcare workers that are against it is (was?) almost the same as the general populace, especially given the fact that they'd be at MUCH greater risk of contracting and spreading it. Since it is becoming more and more mandated in that industry, these people are now finding themselves unemployable. I am curious to see what if any legal fallout comes of this. So far it appears that rulings on mandates are pretty split though it likely depends on what type of organization was imposing it and the judge hearing the case.

I'm not an anti-vaxer myself (and either is my wife). I think the reason I'm opposed to vaccination mandates is because (so far anyway) the "death-tolls" and percentages of long-term effects didn't seem anywhere near as horrible as the illnesses that we have had mandatory vaccinations for the last few decades (measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, etc.). It rather seemed like making the Flu-shot mandatory.
However, it does seem like that is changing with the Covid varients become much easier to catch and spread. I would prefer it if the government (ie. President, Senate etc.) would shut up about getting vaccinated and encourage the medical professionals to convince their patients to get vaccinated. This country has gotten to the point where they feel Government is lying to them most of the time (at least most of the Americans I know). This shouldn't be a political issue. Heck Trump got the jab while he was President. Biden got the jab BEFORE he was elected....so thanks to Trump Biden was able to get vaccinated. There shouldn't be anything political about this. We have become a society with an "us against them" attitude and politicians have done nothing to curtail that situation.
Even though nearly half of healthcare workers do not want to get vaccinated it appears to me that most of those "hesitant to vax" are not doctors. My wife has not run into a single doctor who refused to get vaccinated, and most did it very early on (I'm sure there are some, but they seem to be few and far between).

There are just too many reports of adverse affects for my comfort. And the government made the companies immune from lawsuits if things go bad so that's not helpful in convincing me. I don't care if you get it but if you're healthy and under 70 your chance of survival is 99.8%, not something to panic over.

I'm with you on that. The whole politicalness of this has made people become tribal, and if one side is telling you the sky is blue, then you sure are going to say that it is red. That being said, the Covid we are seeing lately is totally different than last years. Two friends of mine got Covid recently. One is obese and vaccinated. The other is healthy and unvaccinated. The vaccinated guy had mild flu symptoms. The unvaccinated one had to be hospitalized and is dealing with trying to breathe again and suffering mental issues and such.

Yeah, it's starting to seem that quite a few of the un-vaxed who contract it are getting it really bad. It isn't even just the elderly or immune compromised anymore either. It's hitting relatively healthy people (or even completely healthy) really hard at any age over 20 now with a vengeance.

I totally understand. The list is daunting, but most stuff on there is rare, rare, rare. Every vaccination you've ever had or drug you've ever taken comes with a long list of possible side effects. Check out the rare side effects from children's aspirin (this from WebMD -- not my usual source, but it's accessible)
RARE side effects
Hemolytic Anemia
Anemia
A Decrease In Platelet Clotting
Large Purple Or Brown Skin Blotches
Decreased Blood Platelets
Low Levels Of White Blood Cells
Bleeding Within The Skull
Bleeding
Bronchospasm
Stomach Or Intestinal Ulcer
Blood Coming From Anus
Inflammation Of The Skin Due To An Allergy
Hives
Blistering Of The Skin
Seizures
Wheezing
Trouble Breathing
A Significant Type Of Allergic Reaction Called Anaphylaxis
A Type Of Allergic Reaction Called Angioedema
A Rupture In The Wall Of The Stomach Or Intestine
A Type Of Significant Allergic Skin Reaction Called DRESS Syndrome
Bruising Under The Skin
Bleeding Gums
A Type Of Stomach Irritation Called Gastritis
Indigestion
Decreased Appetite
Nosebleed
Abnormal Liver Function Tests
Hematoma, A Collection Of Blood Outside Of The Blood Vessels
Damage To The Liver And Inflammation
Bleeding Of The Stomach Or Intestines
A Type Of Kidney Inflammation Called Interstitial NephritisC
Crazy eh
