So I bought these new shoes from this drug dealer. I don't know what he laced them with, but I've been trippin' all day!

Some of you may have heard about this because you have facebook....and have friended me. But I thought I would repeat it here because I think it is wild (and kind of cool).
My wife used to work for a foster child parent visitation service (she transported kids and supervised the court appointed visits with their birth parents). She liked it because she could set her own hours and the pay was decent (not great, but ok). Down side was that she was racking up tons of miles on our van and really wearing it down (and the mileage reimbursement rate was a criminal 34 cents a mile). Also her hours would be cut short by parents cancelling their visits at the last minute. It really wasn't a reliable source of income.
So 7 months ago she left the job and started full time as a preschool teacher at a facility about 5 miles down the road. The hourly rate wasn't quite as good, but it was full-time and ridiculously close to home. She was one of the older employees there (we are in our late 40's), but that wasn't an issue. When she started I joked that within 6 months she would be running the place.
There are two leadership positions at the facility (that has over 100 students), the main Director and an Assistant Director (AD). The AD that had been there since my wife started was not at all good at the job. She was much too young for the job and was not at all an effective leader...the owner was toying with the idea of firing her, but the girl asked to step down and go back to being a teacher. The owner agreed and the girl was removed from leadership. Oddly enough the Director got the opportunity for a job he had wanted for years and tendered his resignation. The facility was in need of a Director and an AD at the same time. Three employees at the school decided to throw their hat in for the AD position and the owner decided to hire an outside person to fill the Director's position. My wife interviewed and was given the AD position (later the owner told her it was really no contest and that she was obviously the best person for the job).
She started on Monday of last week. As can be expected it was quite hectic, the owner and her regional manager had decided to take the transition of leadership as an opportunity to revamp the school policies and staff member duties (so a stressful time for everyone, not just the new leaders). My wife was stressed, but coping well. On Tuesday the new Director started. She worked four hours and then promptly left for lunch never to return again. She didn’t even tell anyone she wasn’t coming back. Several calls were placed to her phone and she wouldn’t return a single call. Needless to say that left the owner and staff in a bit of a pickle, they had no Director. During my wife’s interview she had expressed a desire to one day be Director of the facility….on Thursday that became a reality, the owner offered her the position of Director and my wife accepted it…she was only the AD for 3 days! Four days prior she had just been a lead teacher in one of the classrooms! It was more than a shock for us all. On Friday (the next day), she was forced to fire her first employee (how is that for a trial by fire?)
I have to say I have never heard of anything like this before (and probably won’t again). To top things off, I will be signing paperwork in the next few weeks to make me a 24% shareholder (and partner) in my company. The “boss” hopes to retire in the next 4 years and expects me and my other partner to take over the company completely (not a big company by any means, but if things keep going in the direction they are headed we will be adding additional employees in the next year).
Sorry about the long-winded post, but I was just itching to share that in a bit more detail.

It sounds like God is blessing you, Staybrite! Just make sure you continue to listen for His directions for your family and that company in the future. I know you will, though.

Wow Staybrite, that's awesome news. Mrs. Staybrite is Mrs. Director now and you will be a shareholder and partner. Congratulations with so many blessings from God. God is there for you and your wife when you need wisdom to lead the business you are responsible for.

I still spout that one off sometimes. Usually at the most inappropriate moments. My kid will say "hey dad can we go to McDonalds?" and I will reply with "IT"S NOT A TUMOR" (of course done in Arnie's accent)

Maybe you can get some of the guitar/synth sounds that Judas Priest captured on their Turbo album, sounds like fun to me.

Oh that's a good one! I hope you enjoy it. I've been cranking that one often.
Fun fact: they're from my girlfriend's hometown which is a pretty small town in Slovakia. Apparently, there are very few Christians there at all, and so she was particularly surprised to hear that there's a Christian metal band there! (And a pretty good one at that!)

Was there a ceremony? Or at least an official announcement/proclamation? I must have missed it.
