Plus, I know Chris mentions lack of Guitar solos on some Christian Rock albums. Country is filled with Guitar solos. Last year when I saw FGL opening up for Jason Aldean, both guitarist put on a solo clinic.

Yer darn tootin'!  Great solos can make a song if the song has a catchy verse and a big hook.  Add all three of these together, and you have an anthem!  The new country has learned well from this while the rock scene of today has forgotten.  Country is even learning the lesson of you need a discernible riff to make the song instantly recognizable and a singer with a voice that is just a little different than the others.  Why did we love the rock of the 80s?  For all those things.  Country music is adapting to draw us in and is getting a younger crowd too.
