I'm not a huge fan of monster movies, but this one seemed to be rather sub-par when compared to more recent monster movies like say "Cloverfield". I thought the acting was a little less than inspired, and there weren't enough monsters or even believable suspense....almost like they didn't have enough budget for the special effects. Cloverfield was basically an action movie whereas Monsters was basically a drama. You can't really compare the two.
They,or maybe I should say he (the director),didn't really have much of a budget for it. The budget was only $500,000.
Ok, but how many people would watch a movie titled "Monsters" hoping to watch a drama about two young people potentially falling in love (oh yes, and 12-1/2 minutes of total monster footage as well) _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| That is where they need to be open minded and not going in with certain expectations. If they saw the trailers and maybe read the synopsis, they could get an idea of what to expect. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1470827/ - Quote :
- Six years after Earth has suffered an alien invasion a cynical journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through an infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.

| What! You mean people should not expect a movie maker to make a movie that fit's into their perfect ideal of what the movie should be?!?!? Next your going to suggest that musicians should make music that makes "them" happy and not worry about what is going to sell to the most people. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... | Watched Olympus Has Fallen last night. Very predictable, corny, and far from original... though it was pretty fun for a mindless action flick. | |

| Did anyone see The Monuments Men? I saw a trailer for it a few days ago and it looked really interesting. I have a feeling it is between the theater and dvd right now, so probably no way for me to watch it. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

You didn't see my last post on the last page? I saw it yesterday...on Blu-ray. I also saw it in the theater back in February. It just came out on video this week (Tuesday).

It just came out on video this week (Tuesday). Sorry missed your post, that tends to happen sometimes when the thread rolls over to a new page. If I don't stay on top of it I often miss the post or two at the bottom of the previous page. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Godzilla was fun. Pretty paint-by-numbers Hollywood blockbuster sorta flick, but it was definitely entertaining! Very corny script (laughable) but then again, that may have been intentional. I'd recommend it! | |

2~ Did you stay for the post credits scene? It is a bit of a teaser to the sequel... X-Men: Apocalypse . 1. Regular. I can't do 3D - unfortunately 3D movies literally give me migraines. 2. Knowing that all Marvel flix have a post credit teaser, we didn't stay as we had reservations in 30 minutes at a high-end restaurant 20 minutes away from the theater. I merely "read" about the teaser online instead... not as cool as seeing it, but I get the general idea. Not thrilled. I really wish they'd work on condensing the Marvel Civil War story - now THAT would be an amazing story to tell.

| Proving how far behind I am on movies, last weekend I saw:
World War Z - Outside of laughing at zombies running off buildings or running into things, it's a complete waste of time.
Harry Potter (first one) - I enjoyed watching my son enjoy it, but I don't get all the hype it gets.
God Is Not Dead - Loved it! You gotta love the boldness of that movie. Uncommon in this day. I also liked getting five people in the theater for $15.
Congo - I could take it or leave it, it was ok.

Any good? Actually, yes! It is not a bright and cheerful as the cartoon was (Sleeping Beauty). It goes into more detail as to why Malificent becomes evil. There is a major change to the original story line, though, that hardcore fans might not like. However, it worked for this film and was quite enjoyable. My wife loves "Sleeping Beauty" and loved this as well. She's always liked the female Disney villians. Malificent and Ursala from "The Little Mermaid" are her favorites. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/
