| Cool trivia... did you guys know that Rage of Angels was originally known as "Ransom" ? Their name was "Ransom" long enough to be printed on the cover of an early issue of Heaven's metal with their band picture. Many think that it's a mistake, but ROA's name at the time it was printed was actually Ransom. They changed their name to ROA shortly after the cover story. Just thought that was cool info. | |

| Wow! I just read all about John Schlitt and tripped out over his testimony... I never knew the following:
"During the following years with Head East, Schlitt enjoyed the success of the band that produced several hits during the 70s. They released together four studio and one live album. However, during the time, Schlitt also developed a dependency on cocaine and alcohol. His dependency reached a peak when he retired from the band in March 1980. After leaving Head East, Schlitt formed a short-lived band, but it quickly vanished as his addiction intensified in a six-month depression during which he "came very close to suicide.". During that same period, however, his wife became a born-again Christian, and subsequently convinced Schlitt to see her pastor. Schlitt confesses that he had already decided to end his life and complied only "so my wife would be able to say ‘he tried’ after I was gone". However, Schlitt also became a born-again Christian and left his addiction to drugs and alcohol. Schlitt decided to leave the music scene and rededicate his life to his family. After that, he started working in a factory, and slowly rose until becoming a mining engineer and then a cost and scheduling engineer. During this time Schlitt attended Gethsemane Church in Evansville In, where he sang with the praise and worship team. He received the call from Bob Hartman during this time and moved to Nashville"

| Interesting fact about the Newsboys: The band's original name was The News, but once in the U.S. they changed it to The Newsboys to avoid conflict with the U.S.-based band Huey Lewis and the News. | |

Ha that's funny....looks like they managed to last substantially longer than Huey and the rest of his band. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I don't know... my parents recently saw Huey and the News in concert (at a casino) and my mom said he's as energetic as ever. Their 1st album was in 1980 and their last was in 2010. There's still 4 original members of Huey's band working with him since 1979. Can't say that about Newsboys. | |

| Ok, I stand corrected. I had no idea that Huey was still performing. But is he recording new music, or just doing the perpetual greatest hits tour? _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| You're pretty much right. The last couple albums have not been "new Huey" music, rather, he's taken to doing classic soul songs and such. Not my thing. And you're also right in that there's been a ton of "greatest" albums/concerts.
As for the Newsboys, I think it's cool they're still creating new songs, but I'll never consider them "The Newsboys" - the all new members constitute a new different band in my opinion.

| Just read this piece of news I never knew: In 1992 Deliverance had to cancel their 12 date tour after guitarist George Ochoa suffered 2nd degree burns on his right hand, arm and leg when a fire broke out at his Hollywood home. Sofa cushions ignited due to a space heater placed too close to the couch. Ochoa picked the cushions up and threw them out the window to save his home, and in doing so, suffered the burns. | |

You have mentioned it several times. If you do it two more times, then Dennis has the legal right to seek a restraining order against you...be careful you could get a visit from the RCMP! _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Interesting music factoid of the day. I'm sure all of you rockers are familiar with John Lennon's crappy song from 1970 called "God" - where he sings about all the things he doesn't believe in (including Jesus). But were you aware that there are 2 more parts to this ? U2 decided to put out their own "God" song several years ago called "God, Part 2", where Bono in his classic writing style, counters Lennon with statements about not believing in negative things, rather to believe in love - and reading between the lines, this love is only from Jesus:
" Don't believe the devil I don't believe his bookBut the truth is not the same Without the lies he made up Don't believe in excess Success is to give Don't believe in riches But you should see where I live I...I believe in love Don't believe in forced entry Don't believe in rape But every time she passes by Wild thoughts escape I don't believe in death row Skid row or the gangs Don't believe in the Uzi It just went off in my hand I...I believe in love Don't believe in cocaine Got a speed-ball in my head I could cut and crack you open Do you hear what I said Don't believe them when they tell me There ain't no cure The rich stay healthy While the sick stay poor I...I believe in love Don't believe in Goldman His type like a curse Instant karma's going to get him If I don't get him first Don't believe that rock 'n' roll Can really change the world As it spins in revolution It spirals and turns I...I believe in love Don't believe in the 60's The golden age of pop It glorifies the past While the future dries up Heard a singer on the radio late last night He says he's gonna kick the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight I...I believe in love I feel like I'm falling Like I'm spinning on a wheel It always stops beside a name a presence I can feel I...I believe in love"
THEN, Larry Norman, the Jesus rock pioneer, decided to write "God, Part 3" - In classic Larry style, he too writes against negative, but there's no reading between the lines with Larry. He's always very clear:
"i don't believe in beatles, i don't believe in rock i dont't believe in the cutting edge, that's just journalist talk i don't believe in the cover story or the gospel chart you can easily hit number one with a bullet and totally miss the heart but i oh i believe in God i don't believe in politics while the masses stay unfed til the leaders change priorities and supply the poor with bread don't believe in the revolution or the empty words of peace you can tear all of the governments down you still won't find release but i oh i believe in God i don't believe the papacy when fallible lies are told if they really want to help the poor they should sell some of their gold and i don't believe the aryans are the master race if you think that Jesus is white you'd be surprised to see His face but i oh i believe in God don't believe in esperanto or the dreams of babylon if we all spoke the same language, long ago we would'a built the bomb and i don't believe in money the way lives are bought and sold and when this world is ended bankrupt i'm gonna walk the streets of gold no i don't believe in evolution, i was born to be free ain't gonna let no anthropologist make a monkey out of me and i don't like the devil, i ain't gonna be his slave and when i'm finished dying i'm gonna bust out of my grave oh i yeh i oh i - I and i oh i oh i believe in God i believe in God i believe in God i believe in God "
I knew about Lennon's song, I heard about U2's, but today I learned of Larry's finale to this "God" trio of songs. Very interesting. (Let's hope that the believers get the final word and no one comes out with a God, Part 4 !)

- Ok, today's random music stuff comes from an article I read out of CCM magazine from 1990. I heard about this before but never seen picture comparisons: Amy Grant sued Marvel Comics for stealing her image for the cover of an issue of Dr Strange. I often wondered how close the image was, and if this wasn't something blown out of proportion - until I saw the side by side... as an artist myself, there's NO arguing whether or not the artist used her image. Total RIP OFF !! and rather interesting...
The artist copied every detail with very little change at all. What a dummy. My wife used to have that Amy Grant album on cassette and I recognized it as her immediately when I saw that comic book cover. Kind of surprised that the artist did that. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

I didn't know about the John Lennon or the Larry Norman songs. That is incredibly neat...I listened to all three songs on youtube at lunch to compare. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."
