Wasn't sure where to put this, so I made this thread up...
Not many country fans here I realize, but I stumbled on a recording of Tim McGraw doing Petra's More Power To Ya. He chose this song to open the Katrina disaster Benifit concert. I thought that was pretty cool (and he does a pretty good interpretation of it too)

Ok, so I'm reading an old issue (1988) of CCM with an artical on Heavy Metal. They tell the story of how the members of Stryken went to a Motley Crue concert and preached at kids entering the concert while holding a huge cross !
Then they went inside and began sharing the Gospel to the audience before the band took stage, complete with their giant cross... they were escorted by security (who himself happened to be a Christian and didn't press charges).
What a cool story that I'd never heard !

That was more than a little weird hearing a popular country artist cover Petra (but very cool)...he did a really good job with it.

They must have reprinted that same article for the b&w fanzine version of the mag a few years ago, becuase I remember reading it in one of those. What a brave (and crazy) thing to do.

Amazing how their talents for shredding are similar, yet their belief systems are polar opposites.

Was just reading about the guys in Ruscha. Back in the 80s they were originally known as "The Russians" (which I'm sure you all knew)... what I didn't know was the reason they changed their name from The Russians to Ruscha.
Their tour bus had the name The Russians on the side.. apparently in the 80s that wasn't such a great idea, cuz they had vandalism and broken windows on their bus on different occasions. This is the reason they changed their name. Interesting Christian music trivia !

Random and cool:
The group’s name, “MercyMe”, originated during Bart’s time as a youth ministry intern in Florida. Concerned that her grandson was home whenever she called, Bart’s grandmother would exclaim, “Well mercy me, why don’t you get a real job?”
Thought that was funny and interesting trivia.

When Vince left Motley Crue back in he late 80s for a while Ken Tamplin auditioned for the job and while he agreed to not change any lyrics and keep his faith off stage Crue rejected him saying that while he was a fantastic singer he didn't party. Ken was rejected by several secular bands through the years.

My uncle is a music minister at a fairly large church here in Missouri. When MercyMe came a few years ago, he was their point man. Took them around town, fed them, that kind of thing.
After the show, some of the ladies from the church cooked the band and their opener a meal. As they walked down the steps they asked my uncle Steve what it was. He said "Fried chicken, salad, mashed potatoes, stuff like that."
Bart stopped them on the middle of the staircase and looked at the rest of the band while saying "Boys, I forgot we were in a Baptist church. I should have know we were having fried chicken!" with a huge grin.
After he said it, one of the other guys, I think the bassist goes "Well Bart, quit talking and let's get to eatin'!" after which they raced down the steps, almost knocking my uncle down.

That is cool, a little play on the popular 80's movie "3 Men and a Baby" (starring Tom Selleck, Ted Dansen, & Steve Guttenburg IIRC). Is it just me or does Paul's kid look less than thrilled with the photo shoot?

A "clean" band from Southern Ontario covered Titanic - Gods Of War (2:48 in the video) and it sounds pretty cool.

The pic with the babies is fun.
That "clean" band from Ontario sounds cool. I like to say that I want more of this band.
DBF is there more to listen too?

Thank you Vonnie ! Not that I'm looking for compliments, but since I've put so much work and so many hours in it, it's nice to hear a compliment or criticism every once in a while.

Here is their MySpace page with songs: http://www.myspace.com/finalstage And the lyrics: https://www.facebook.com/finalstage/posts/10151185499045474
I personally don't see anything objectionable, but it's subjective. Typical power metal lyrics, I think.

I don't measure what I listen by how much/whether or not it is objectionable.. I measure it by how much does it point me to Christ and edify me spiritually.. so I'd have to skip it.
