I struggle with my music website. I stink at reviews. I can write up the basic info on a band and post my personal rating of the album, but I have trouble sometimes with the section called:
"Sounds Like / For Fans Of:"
I'd like to throw out some albums here in this post and see what YOUR opinion is on them.
For example, New Jerusalem would be likened to Led Zeppelin. That's easy.
Here's the first one -
ANGELICA SOUNDS LIKE, OR FOR FANS OF ? (someone told me they sound like Slaughter, but I've never heard Slaughter so I wouldn't know)

Angelica, is very much in the melodic pop-metal kind of vein so Slaughter would be a good pick. I might also say they sound a little like Mr Big. Check out this Mr. Big track and tell me if it doesn't remind you of Angelica (disclaimer...Mr Big is a secular band).
I'd be really interested to hear what others have to say

That's true, I've heard that Mr Big song before... there is definitely a comparison. No doubt. Cool. Anyone else ?

::Bump:: Angelica SOUNDS LIKE, OR FOR FANS OF ? (Mr. Big, and ?) Balance of Power SOUNDS LIKE, OR FOR FANS OF ? Chase: In Pursuit SOUNDS LIKE, OR FOR FANS OF ?
Is this too hard a thread ? If it is, I'll drop it. I just figured there's quite a few here that are into rating and reviewing, that I could get some ideas from some better "ears"

Chase..In Pursuit reminds me of Giant or Night Ranger.
Actually I had never heard of this album but it is great. I think I might get it.

Thanks bt !
It's a great album (Chase), lyrics are kind of neutral, but that's ok - it's good old rock similar to Night Ranger (as you said- good comparison).

It's been a little while since I listened to Chase, but some of the vocal harmonies remided me of Hysteria era Def Leppard, or maybe even Nelson (or maybe I'm confusing Chase, with Brother Brother). Can't really help you at all with Balance of Power, I don't have much exposure to secular power metal.

I agree with the Chase/Nelson comparison. Nouveaux would also fit in with that.

While there are differences, you could easily compare the sound and style of Eowyn and Flyleaf.
Echoing Angels has changed their sound, so making a comparison isn't real easy. Neither of their 2 albums sound alike.
I never got into Earthsuit, East West, or FF5. So, I am not even going to try to compare them.

Ok, the only one of those that I am familiar with is Eowyn. Some of her stuff reminds me a little of Evanesence (spelling?). But I'm not really familair with all the work from either artist.

Here's one I'm having trouble with. An old album by Hank Laake Band -"Life and Death" (1983). It's good old rock, 70s-ish radio rock... I just can't compare it to anything - can you ?
Here's the way-old OOP album if you want to give it a listen:
If you download it though, you hafta tell me who you think it resembles, or "for fans of..."

Think so ? I guess I hear some of that... I was thinking some of the music resembles old Kiss and some of the vox resembles Geddy Lee. But again, I dont have a good ear for these things.

Ya I can understand that. It has the general 70's feel that everyone kind of tapped into during that time. Good luck with it!!

Who would ya'all compare "The Kry" to ? My first thought was REM, but I haven't listened to enough REM to make that judgment.

The first two albums were kinda like Bryan Adams though not quite as rockin. The latter stuff--who knows. I kind of lost interest after that.
