Ok, so here I am again with a total pointless endeavor...
I've been clipping songs and puting them on my website to demonstrate interesting similarities. I've only got 3 so far, and hopefully I will keep this up to have a large assortment.
Oh, and please submit your own ideas about certain songs you think are rip offs of others, or just "coincidently" similar...

Check out these two videos I noticed earlier. The first is from the famous metalcore band As I Lay Dying (I know, I know. Nobody here enjoys metalcore lol) and the second is from a newer metalcore band called Serianna. Is it just me or do the intros to both sound eerily similar? Haha

They do seem very similar. With it being within the same genre of music, this might even be intentional.

I'm sure this one probably is. As I Lay Dying is considered one of the cornerstone bands of the genre so you can hear their influence in a lot of other metalcore bands. But it's a little unusual to hear something that's almost note for note the same.

The riff from Barnabas's "No Freedom" reminds me a bit of Daniel Band's "Don't Give Up" - not at all the same thing, but they remind me of each other a bit.

There is a riff in Petra's Seen and Not Heard that is identical to Kiss's Heaven's on Fire
YES !!! I remember that !! First time I heard that song back in the day, it immediately made me think of my old Kiss album with that song ! In fact for a while I didn't like the seen and not heard song cuz of that reason.
Good one Hardcore, I'll hafta put that one on the site for sure ! (my wife thinks I'm a nut... but I dig this kinda stuff)

Rugged Cross has a song that uses almost the exact same chord progression as Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit". I can't remember the name of the Rugged Cross song, and I don't have access to it right this minute, but I will try to figure it out this weekend.

I never had any of the Kiss albums so I wouldn't have picked it up. My older bro from CO. has them and told me right off which song it sounds like.
I also seem to remember a song from Whitecross's Triumphant Return sounding like a song from Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood, can't remember which one tho.

Loving your page, and yes I would say that Wes King intentionally aped Led Zepp in that song (probably more as just a tribute to the band....I think that happens a lot). Back in the 90's Hootie and the Blowfish did it (intentionally) with a Bob Dylan song, and ended up getting sued over it.

Nice. You throw in a lick as a tribute and you get sued over it. Betcha Dylan doesn't even know about any of that, since it's all the producers and owners of the music that get their panties in a bunch over stuff like that.
Hardkore: If you come across the Whitecross/Motley Crue sound alike, lemme know !
Staybrite: If you come across those Rugged cross/Nirvana sound alikes, lemme know !
I have about 20 more that I've written down, but just hafta get the songs, edit them and upload. I enjoy this kinda stuff... missed my calling somewhere.
