Secular? hmmmm Does Alison Krauss and Union Station count? Or will that count as double lashes froom the noodle cuz they are country/bluegrass? But they have included some very good christian songs like - There is a reason - In the palm of your hand - Living prayer
I have an old CCR album that gets certain songs listened too. Lodi had a very catchy tune De wife loved Abba from her youth and it still lingers. Springsteen. I have a greatest hits album. Thunder road is poetic genius. Huey Lewis & the News, another greatest hits. Loved the song "Power of Love" I have a Bryan Adams Greatest Hits. And a journey Greatest hits.
Ok, so where do I go to receive my lashes...?

Next time, instead of fifty lashes with a wet noodle, you'll have a hundred lashes of soaked broccoli.

through the 90s and some 2000's there was so much unhappy music that the feel-good 80s was known for.... it's nice to hear some of this happy music coming back. Not a great big fan due to the "secular-ness" of these guys, but they're getting popular cuz ppl want to hear something that makes them happy.

For some reason that band's name always mnakes me think of some terrible social disease. As in: "Oh my, did you hear what happened to Chuck?...he came down with a bad case of Clannad!"

I didn't know Enya was related to Moya. Off topic I know, but didn't Brennan do a few worship albums with Margaret Becker and the woman from Iona?

yep, got both of those worship albums. They're really good too.
The sisters were raised catholic. Enya's the one that made it big in "New Age" music, while her sister Moya (Maire) Brennan went CCM. They were both a part of Clannad in the early years before their solo careers. I know it's a far cry from rock, but I absolutely love their sound (when I'm in the mood to mellow out). For years I had Enya and Moya on my CD wake up alarm. Nice way to wake up.

Agreed - Moya B./Enya/Clannad all fall into the category of "chill out music" as far as I'm concerned. Don't know much about Enya's spiritual path, but Moya B. did return (publicly) to the Christian faith a couple of decades ago:
"Along with the highs of success in the music business she also recounts low periods where alcohol, drugs and an abortion made her re-evaluate her life. She emerged from those dark years as a committed Christian with rekindled faith." (from Wikipedia)
I'm just an old Celt meself, so I have a soft spot for the work of artists like Iona/Dave Bainbridge, Clannad, Wolfstone, Troy Donockley, Enya, Ceili Rain, Eden's Bridge etc. Beautiful, beautiful stuff.
As I recall, Moya B. did participate in a project ("In Christ Alone") with Margaret Becker and Joanna Hogg (from Iona) about a decade ago. Oddly, it wasn't (for me) as great as it might sound ... I think it had to do with the material, which was written by a guy named Keith Getty, and which stylistically was pretty far afield from what all three of those artists typically do.

Hands down Styx. They have been my favorite band since 1980. Can't drop them now. I have every album and then some. I have been to see them about 9 times over the years and even introduced them on stage in 2006. Have done extensive interviews with both Dennis DeYoung & Tommy Shaw and have met the current members.
With that said I really have no desire to see them again because while Lawrence Gowan is a good vocalist, it just ain't the same without Dennis at the helm.

I would have to say ANGRA is my fave secular band.......mostly the stuff from Rebirth to the present.
The early albums with Andre Matos were okay, but his voice irritates me just a little.
