It was. We didn't do a few of the caches on one short trail. We also didn't do the last two on the paved trail due to sabidoo being too sore after climbing out of this big hole. You will have to see the picture. Hehehehehe..........

Yesterday we did a multi with 8 questions and have found the cache.
We have found an other traditional too.

What was the geocache you liked the most to find in 2011?
For me it was the power trail we did in May.

I have found quite a few this year (almost 700) so remembering my favorite would be quite difficult.

I grabbed one traditional cache at a rest stop on the way to Orange Beach, AL. I plan to grab a few more while here. However, we are close to both the ocean and some swamps. I am not going into the swamps alone as they have quite a few alligators here, and they do not hibernate. They are active most of the year, and I am not traipsing around in the swamp alone. Yes, I am a big chicken.

That's what we do too. Searching caches on our way to something.
Parkplace caches, carpool caches.

I won't go to a swamp. And alligators, we never have seen one.
Swamps are scary.
You are not a chicken when you don't like to meet an alligator.

I went out and got 10 caches today. All of them were pretty easy, but at least I got out of the house for a while.

And now you know why I go out to a particular area and play for a few hours. It just gets me out of the house whether I am going deep woods, power trailing, or working skirt lifters inside the city limits.

Have you seen the power trail at Murfreesboro: The Handbook Highway? It would be easy for you to do, and it would get you to your 500 quickly. 33 caches in that power trail. Also, the one off of Bill France would get you 13 more.

I have been having issues with the new Garmin not working right. So, I found out last night that there is a firmware update for it and have updated. I have only searched for one cache with the new update, but it seems to be working better. Only time will tell, I guess.

The cache I found was less than 250 feet from the main entrance of the condo where we are staying here in Orange Beach, AL.

I scored a 5x5 today. Almost got stuck in another hole trying to get it. Why must I continue to go into holes where I have no business going?!?

I can answer that one, Andre, as I have previously found that one. It was a nano down in a storm drain where you have to pry a 300 lb. grate off of to get into the square hole where 2 drains come together. The container is magnetically stuck to the inside of one side of the drain and is no larger than your pinky fingernail. This cache also has a dummy container on the top of a light pole that is almost as difficult to get down.

Just a couple of minutes if you have the info needed about where the cache actually is. Most people try to find a way to get the dummy cache down first. I went with a buddy and spent 1 1/2 hours using plastic electrical conduit and some rope to fish this down off the pole and then to put it back up. I went back a month or two later with some friends with a 10 year old daughter who gladly went into the storm drain after 4 big guys made short work of lifting that storm drain. That trip only took about 10 minutes counting the time taken for the group photos.

Planned to get out for geocaching today.
The rain ha spoiled this plan.

Some geocaches are really wonderful about the way how they are hidden.

This virus I have had while on vacation has really kept me from caching. I have it just about of my system, so I am going to try to get a few along the coast today including a couple of virtuals on a naval base. Should be cool!

I found 7 total today. Two were virtuals, 4 were micros, and one was a traditional (small) cache where I dropped off a cicada geocoin that I own. It has already been picked up and is on the move.

It is SOOOOOOO foggy down here today. Two of the caches I found were on a pier that is .3 miles long. You could not see the ocean from the end of the pier. Now THAT'S foggy!!! It's been that way all day an no signs of letting up.

Tomorrow I have to bring my sister back to the airport so she can fly home.
Then it's .... Starbucks time.
It will be so quiet in the house.
So time to search lots of new geocaches tomorrow.

I have scored about 20 caches this week. Gotta do at least 1 today, to mark the new year. Tomorrow, Alldat and I are gonna try to get about 50 and finally put me over 500 finds.
