| I'm interested to know what an ammo box is. Cool to find travelbugs. It's a very long time I've found a travelbug. | |

| An ammo box looks like this: Ammo boxes hold....well......ammo (otherwise known as bullets, boys and girls) for the US Military. When the boxes are empty, they give them away and Army surplus stores will resell them to people that want them. They are metal, and have a watertight seal that lasts for many years unless the box is damaged. They are great for standard size geocaches. I have 2 or 3 now that need a place to hide them. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| I've found a few of those. They are great beginner caches, because they are big and hold a lot of stuff. | |

Beginner cache? Try finding one of these in a 4.5 difficulty/5 terrain area. Size has little to do with the difficulty. It has everything to do with positioning, camouflage, ground cover, etc. I've seen larger caches that this that were just a difficult to find as a micro. Most micros aren't that hard as most of them are either magnetic key holders or simple light pole skirt caches (aka skirt lifters). A good hide can use any container, make it disappear to muggles, and be a challenge for anyone. Just because it's big doesn't make it easier. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| You're probably right, but often beginner caches listed on Geocaching.com are ammo boxes. At least, the ones I've found. | |

| I've had a couple of rough days. Thursday, I went after 4 in Nashville. I found three that were Willie Willie Wough (that's the owner's name for the series that is VERY tricky). I also tried for a 4th one that I had tried before. Of those 4, I only found two.
Saturday, my wifey and I were out and tried for a few. We hit 4 again. The first one was definitely missing as all we found was the velcro that held it in place. The next 2 we did not find, and one of those was yet another of the Willie Willie Wough series. The final one that I just gave up caching after was covered up with muggles fishing and I couldn't hunt this cache without revealing it's location. We just gave up after that.
Ever have caching days where you just feel like your game isn't on? That's been me this past week!
I have had a lot of trouble with my DeLorme GPS. So, I bought the brand new Garmin eTrex 30 that has just come out. My first GPS was an eTrex, and I loved it except for it wasn't paperless. I had notebooks everywhere. But, I stopped that when I got my DeLorme. Garmin has a new series of eTrex that features paperless caching and even a real compass that will keep pointing to the proper location--even if you stop moving. Many handheld GPS receivers (GPSr) will stop pointing if you stop moving due to their electronic compass.
I am looking forward to hitting a few caches this week. I hope the new unit brings the fun back to caching. Fighting with my DeLorme freezing up hasn't.

| Sorry the DeLorme you bought wasn't so good as you thought. It's interesting to think about the Garmin eTrex 30. We have papers everywhere. With the new Garmin you don't have to write anymore, even if you do a multi with 8 questions you have to answer?
I hope the new Garmin works better than the DeLorme.

| With a multi with that many parts, you might still want a notebook to jot down numbers. Other than that, the new Garmin won't require you to write down cache descriptions or clues. You'll have all that will you. You can even upload your finds (aka field notes) to your profile to make logging them easier and faster.
I took the new Garmin out today and it is VERY nice.

The Willie Willie Wough is a serie of many difficult geocaches? how many do you have to find?

| I think there are 23 or 24 in the Willie Willie Wough series. The same guy has a series called Willie Willie (not so) Wough, too. They are tricky, but not too bad if you think it through.

| Willie Willie Wough sounds like "Really Really Low" to me. Are they micros? | |

| It should sound more like "Really Really Rough" referring to the guy's first name (Will) and his dog (Wough) and to the difficulty they are to find (rough!). Most of this series are micros, but some are full sized. Will knows how to make a tricky hide, that's for sure. It's amazing as he has less than 400 finds.

| My hometown is too small to have many series. LOL We're only have 1419 living here as per the last total in 2009.
The Willie Willie Wough Series is spread across parts of Davidson and Sumner counties here in TN. It stretches for a LOT of miles.

| Maybe I can get out and ramble a bit this week. I've not really had much time to cache during my whole 2 week break from school. I've been AT school taking training.

| It was a traditional, but I was wrong about the number of states. It was actually state #20. Today I found a regular cache in Louisiana, marking my 21st state. At this cache, there was a baby alligator lying dead on the ground. I kept thinking, where the #@*& is the momma alligator... | |
