| We climbed too to find a cool cache. It was a long walk, but the cache was hidden on a beautiful place. That was on Sunday. We have found 130 now. Today we have found a cache close to a huge cross. We needed to climb too to find this cache. | |

| 130? Wow! You two have really stepped up the pace. While it seems a long way off, 1000 will not be far away. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| Yep, we have searched many caches. 36 last two weeks. Today we haved one found 2 caches, one traditional an one multi. We tried to find an other multi but did not find it. We we walked to the north, the GPS showed us we had to go west. When we went to the west, the GPS showed us an other direction. Have you had the same that when you searched for a cache that the GPS has showed you different directions? It happened a lot last two weeks. | |

| I went out for a run today and got to log 11 new finds. One of those was an FTF!!! That's now 1169 finds with 28 FTFs!

| Lucky you. I have yet to get an FTF. I was second for one cache, missed FTF by one day.
I won't have all that much time this weekend, studying till the brain collapses.

| There was a FTF high in the mountains. We talked about doing that one. but it looked this FTF was close to the snow.
Yesterday we tried to find a cache, but in the logs on the geocache page we read an other GC code that was closer to the cache. We didn't find this cache and have read others have found this cache on 20 meter from the GC code.

Patience. You will get to 100. Vonnie thought she'd never get there, but she has. Does this park have room for something bigger than a micro? A lot of cachers have the mindset that if you have room to hide a Buick there, then you should. Everyone wants to hide the next amazing trick cache, but some people like myself really just want to see some cool places he's never seen. A full size cache will attract more attention than just a micro in the park. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| This park has a lot of room, but the only real safe hiding places (beyond the park itself there is a lot of vegetation) are behind boulders or in a tree. I'll try to get some pictures up today. I nabbed one cache in the deep woods. We almost wrecked the car on a terrible side road, but we heard some cool birds and scared a porcupine off the road. Fun | |

| Now we have found more than 100 caches I know why it's better to wait with hiding caches DBF. You learn how others hide caches and more things. DBF go for the 100 caches !!!!
We have found a travel bug too and will hide it in a cache here.

| Vonnie - have you hidden any yet? Since there's a guy mowing the lawn in the park, pictures will have to wait. I think this is one of the longest threads of CHM! | |

| DBF, now I haven't hidden a cache. I'm thinking about to hide one, but have not a good idea. I don't want to hide a cache under a bench or on a car pool place. I want to make an original cache.
Yes this is the longest thread on CHM. That comes because geocaching is so cool.

| I have quite a few hidden. I don't care if I come up with something new. I just want to be able to have caches that other people enjoy finding. If they are tricky, cool. If they are kind of scary like my spider cache, that's cool too. As long as people enjoy my hides, I'm okay with that.

| Oh, the spider. That was entertaining. This summer I'll have plenty of time to go geocaching. I'm thinking of buying a full GPSr for accuracy, reception, hiding, and international abilities. The iPhone is ok down to a few metres; it's not so good when in the middle of nowhere; people lament the lack of precision for hiding; and data is super expensive in Europe or the U.S. What model do you have, Alldat, Garmin eTrek something? | |

| sabidoo is using the Garmin eTrex. I have the DeLorme PN-40. Both are solid units, but the DeLorme lets you go paperless.
I found 14 caches today and DNF 4. After the 3rd DNF in an hour, I called it a day.

Most of the iPhones update slowly when it comes to GPS reception. Most of the caches I have found that used an iPhone to hide them were anywhere from 25-40 feet off. If you didn't have clues, you'd never find some of them. Most handheld GPSrs have an accuracy of 1-3 meters. That's around 10 feet. When you get that close to a cache, you need to be relying more on your eyes and instinct rather than the GPS anyway.

| That's one of the reasons, Alldat. The others are international travel, better GPS reception (limited coverage where I am), and the cool factor of GPS | |

| We use a Garmin eTrex too.
A GPS that makes you paperless is very interesting. We always need paper and a ball point to write down some geocache stuff. Can you put in the DeLorme all the information you need to know about a geocache, like the secret question and other information?
Hope we can grab some more geocaches this weekend.

| The iPhone app lets me go paperless for now. I haven't bought the $10 app, I only got the free Intro app that gives the bare minimum for finding caches.
I've found 18 caches with the phone.

If you don't want to spend the money for the DeLorme, you can also do this with the less expensive Magellan eXplorist GC. Also, I think there is a new eTrex out that is paperless.
