How does that go?
You put a travelbug in a cache and put a paper in the cache with -- this travelbug has to go to England?
So it's cool when you have found a travelbug and keep it till you go to Austria for example?
There you put the travelbug in an other cache?
Is there always a paper with a travelbug where you can read the mission of the travelbug?

The mission of the travelbug is registered on that bug's page on the website. When you find one, you log that you found it and then carry it to another cache. If you can move that bug closer to it's goal, that's cool. If not, just move it anyway.

The geocoin I have in England is hopefully one day going to South Africa. The coin commemorates S. Africa, and I thought it would be cool to get my coin that far. It bounced around the USA for a while, and then someone took it on vacation with them to England where it is now.

I think it is amazing that I have a geocoin on the opposite side of the planet. I just hope it makes it to South Africa.

That's what I hope for you too.

Can you see when people who have found your travelbug where it is now?

Still more travelbug questions.
A travelbug always has a goal?
That goal has to be in the cache so you know it?

The goal does not have to be in the cache. You can find that when you log it online.

If someone has properly logged your travelbug or geocoin, you will be able to see where it is at whether it is in their hands or placed in another cache. Sadly, many travelbugs don't get logged properly and they can end up missing for some time. Some disappear completely. One my first two disappeared after the first move.

Grabbed my first cache in Pennsylvania today. It is a new record for me as far as distance from home. 510.041 miles from home.

Sabidoo now has 15 states under his belt! Congrats!

I went out yesterday and found 2 caches. I dropped off a travel bug in one and found another there. I found a geocoin on the next cache I found.

Now that's cool to have found caches in 15 states.

My husband found a cache pretty close to his work.
In the cache he has found some travelbugs too, but he has not logged them.

I think the cache with the travelbugs we have found last weekend belong to German people.

Today we have tried to find an other multi cache.
After the second question it went wrong.
Sometimes it's hard to find the correct places and to get the correct coordinates to continue.
Yes ... again a cache has been added to the -not-to -find-list.

I'm sure all neocachers have problems like this.

Do you always do something with the travelbugs you have found?

For me I still have questions about travelbugs.

You always have to log them if you find them and take them with you. Then, you move them to a new cache and log where you put them. It's really that simple.

I haven't done a lot of multi-stage caches. I don't really like them as you end up putting all this extra time and effort into them to only get to count one cache.

Searching for traditional caches is more easy than to do the multiple caches.
When you do something wrong you can't find the cache.

How big is your list with still-to-find-caches?
I have a list of 5 to-find-caches.

I think with the travelbugs -- you have to do it.
Take them with you, log them and put them in an other cache.

Is your new GPS giving you lots of joy to find caches?

Have you ever been to geocache events?
If yes, did you like it?

We have loaded much more caches now in the GPS.

I really like the new GPS. I can't tell that it is more accurate than my old one, but it does let me go paperless. I like that.

I have been to 4 geocaching events and had a good time each time.

I think you haven't had so much snow as this winter?
Snow and geocaching is not good.

PostSubject: Re: Geocaching   Geocaching - Page 12 I_icon_minitimeSun Jan 30, 2011 9:26 am

I found six more yesterday. I took my nephew with me (he called the house asking to hang out with us). We found the first one with no problem. We didn't find the 2nd, but I bet I can go back and find it now since I have a hint from the owner. On our third, we met another guy (Mike) out caching. I'm glad we met because he found the 3rd cache for us. We went on to another cache that was supposed to be a level 3 difficulty/terrain. We found it in less than 10 minutes. Then, we went to another cache that was a puzzle cache, but I did not realize it. My nephew and I met up with the same cacher from before. He had found the cache, but could not open it. Logan (my nephew) fooled with it for a few minutes and was unable to just guess and crack the code. The cacher I met had a schematic printed out from the cache page that was supposed to have the code hidden inside. He could not open it even with that schematic. I was able to open it......on the first try! After we signed the log, Mike had relock the cache and try what I told him I did. Sure enough, it opened right up!

After this, Logan and I went on to find two more caches. One was hidden up in a tree. I was able to get it down with using my trekking pole. I had Logan climb the tree to replace it. He is 18 and has NEVER climbed a tree before.

Our last cache was a place with millions of big rocks near the J. Percy Priest dam. I just knew we'd not find the cache hidden in those rocks. We went up on the hill covered in rocks. One wrong move and we're talking broken leg, neck, anything. It's quite dangerous terrain! I got really close with the GPS and wasn't seeing anything out of the ordinary. I then got quick vertigo attack and had to just sit down. When I sat down, I accidentally spotted the cache!

Even though there were more caches in the area, I did not have any more time to play so we headed back home.

We went back to a cache we have found to look at the bonus code.
Then we have driven to a cache nearby and have not found this caches.
Yep again a "not found cache"
Later we have looked on the webisite and saw it was a nano cache, one without a paper to log the cache.
Now, I really don't like caches like that one.

Did your nephew liked it to go geocaching?
I think your nephew deserves a medail for climbing in the tree.

I think the cache nearby the J. Percy Priest Dam was a five star cache for the difficulty and the terrain.

It seems the vertigo keeps teasing you.
I hope it stays away now.

Does the cache page actually say there is no log, or was the log just missing? If the log is soaking wet or missing, I usually have a replacement with me to repair the cache for them. That way, since I have already found it, I don't have to come back after they do maintenance.

You can just call the ones you did not find a DNF. (Did Not Find) That's pretty standard caching speak.

Hard to say, really. I don't know if he liked it. But, getting a medal? He's lucky I didn't leave him up there. LOL

Actually, I have been in much more difficult terrain. This was just a poor placement area if you ask me. The cache hider did not ask me, though. LOL

Thanks for teaching me geocache language.
I need to learn more.

About the nano cache. I stayed in the car with my mom.
My hubby went out to search this cache.
What he has seen was like a magnet.

I sense that it was you who deserved the medal to take your nephew with you.

Next weekend we don't have to care for mom on Sunday afternoon.
There's more time to go out for geocaching.
I want to find more and more and more.
Traditional caches are excellent to find more.
Multi caches are fun but ask much time.

A cache without a log isn't a good cache?
Each cache has to have a log so you can log them later?
