It looks nice to have one with the tools you need. Chris, have you seen this kit and do you think it's useful to have for geocaching? Whether you buy a premade kit or not is really not important. Some of the things I use regularly: A GPS Tweezers Flashlight Walking stick Toilet Paper Small foldable shovel (goes with toilet paper) Snakebite kit Batteries Pen Bug Spray Anti-itch spray (for bug bites or rashes caused by plants) Machete I need to add a canteen to this. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| We needed a shovel last sunday, but have forgotten to take one from home. My husband used a big key to dug out the cache.
I will pack a backpack for Sunday.

| And extra batteries so you don't have to walk a half mile back to the truck and then have to reclimb the hill to hide your cache. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

Hmmmmm I see you are experienced in this. I've bought two pair of extra batteries this week. I can imagine how it is to be in the middle of no where and the batteries of your GPS are empty. Sabidoo, I'm a bit shocked you need extra oxygen when you have to walk a long time before you have found a cache. Are you that old now? I've found a cool cache. Something with an plane or so.

| I nabbed 6 easy caches while out with my wife shopping today. That brings me to 475.

| We went out for searching a chache today. I'm not sure what went wrong. We didn't find the cache. That's the fist cache we didn't find.
You are close to your goal now. I think before Christmas you have found 500 caches. When you have found 500 caches, you get a medal?

When you have found 500 caches, you get a medal? No--no medal. No recognition at all, really. It's just the goal I set for myself. I started with my first find on Jan. 8, 2010. I want to be at 500 by that date in 2011. I think I can get 25 more. Anything over I get will just make the 2nd year's goal more achievable. - Quote :

I'm not sure what went wrong. We didn't find the cache. That's the fist cache we didn't find. Sometimes you don't find them. Sometimes they are harder than they seem. Others, you just aren't looking at it right. Sometimes, they are missing and need to be logged as "Needs Maintenance". Just don't give up. Ask the owner of the cache, or someone who has recently found it, for a clue. People will help you out if you ask them. I sent an email just a little while ago for info on a cache that I haven't found twice. It should be an easy one, but I am missing it. I hope to get more info and soon get this one off my list.

| The cache was hidden under a birch tree. We thought maybe the birch tree was cut down. Or we needed to go deeper in the wood.
I will ask for more information at the owner to find this cache.

| After church we go out to find a puzzle cache. One with questions you have to answer to find the cache. Geo caching is so fun. | |

| The puzzle caches are cool, but sometimes the answers are not what you think. sabidoo and I tried one in Carthage and do not see how the guy got his answer. We think his math was wrong. Needless to say, after looking in the wrong places, I ended up emailing the guy with my answers and coordinates we had. He sent me back the correct coordinates. I still don't see how he got those answers, but his information gave me the right location for the cache.
I just have 18 more caches to go!

| [quote="alldatndensum"I just have 18 more caches to go![/quote] You can get that down to 17 this week, if you get my new cache. It only has a 3x4 rating, so make sure your life insurance is up to date...hehehe | |

| We started to do the puzzle cache. It was a long way to walk and I couldn't walk anymore. So we have to finish this cache next week. I always feel a bit frustrated when you haven't found a cache or couldn't finish a cache. It's true puzzle caches are fun. Every solution you find you come a bit closer to the cache. | |

| I am always frustrated after not finding a cache--especially when I know it's really there and I just couldn't find it. I don't mind it so much when I discover from the cache page that it's missing.

| Chris & Darren, have you ever searched for a chache that wasn't anymore on the place where it should be hidden?
Do owners of caches chech their caches so now and then? We figure out yesterday while doing the puzzle cache there was something wrong with a question you needed to give an answer on to get the next coordinates.

| I have gone looking for a few that were no longer there. If you find out from other people's notes that the cache is missing, you can log or DNF or log that it "needs maintenance".
Some cachers are excellent at checking their possible missing containers. Some people get out of the game completely and never recheck their hides. When that happens, you can request that a cache be archived since the owner no longer logs into the main site.

| Whoooooooooooooo That's what you get for searching 500 caches. Now go for 1000 caches. We have to finish one and try to find an other cache before we can log both caches. It's not fun when you are in the middle of the woods and it's getting dark so you can't find the caches. That's grrrrr.

| I've had that happen to me--being in the woods as it's getting dark. What is worse is to forget that you have a GPS in your hand and start panicking because you can't find your truck!

| My sister figured out the goat meadow we found is not the goat meadow they mean. So we have gotten the wrong coordinates and went to a wrong path. Hmmmm, tomorrow there's no time for geo caching. Next week we'll find those caches. about forgetting to have a GPS. | |
