Hey everyone... meet my new daughter!

Very true!!! Dudes, I LOVE the 80s, but those two terms are ones that i am particularly embarrassed of when I think of that era!

Something struck me today - it's amazing how the songs that frequent my mind have changed since my daughter was born...
Instead of songs like Stryper's "To Hell With The Devil", or Helloween's "Revelation", or Rob Rock's "Holy Hell", or Ken Tamplin's "Wake The Nations", or Deliverance's "Stay Of Execution" popping into my mind, I find myself WAY too often singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"! Yikes! What has happened to me? Have I truly become a daddy or something???

Hmmm... maybe I'll have to record a heavy metal version...? "Twinkle Twinkle Metal Star"...?

When our daughter was born a lot of songs my mom has sung for us came in my head.

It's just so hard to sound "metal" tough when using the word "Twinkle"

I don't know... just gotta get real gutteral with it... kinda death-metal like... put a real GROWWWLLLL into it! Like something from Mortification's "Scrolls Of The Megilloth" album maybe... it just might work!

That's pretty tough.

I used to change the lyrics to those nursey rhymes to include the names of my children. The first one was when I changed the lyrics of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Shelby".

Yeah, I do the same thing. But I changed it to "how I wonder what Christina are"!

How about this:

Ya gotta take a little license with the rhyme and meter and stuff, but hey... my version has a much happier outcome!

Well it does sound a whole heck of a lot sweeter in the nursery rhyme format.

Kind of inspired by those old ladys who would coo at him as a baby and gush about how he looked so sweet they could just eat him up with a spoon.

Yeah, I'd imagine it does! Isn't context a wonderful thing? You can make ANYTHING sound sweet and innocent, or violent and aggressive, all depending on the music you put it to and the tone in your voice when you sing it!

Actually, you give me hope that maybe, just maybe, my daughter will be into cool music when SHE is that age!

Trust me, man… Had it not been for my dad, I may have never known about metal. He got me into Daniel Band with his bootleg tape, and it all came from there.

Well, I'll definitely be introducing Christina to metal. The problem is that eventually we start to rebel against our parents' music, so I'll have to find a balance so that she doesn't just plain get sick of it by the time her friends at school start to influence her.
