The band I have been playing with for a couple of years now has finally finished the recording of our first album.  It has had it's challenges, but all good things do.  We will be setting a digital release date very soon (November) and hope to have some physical product for the CD lovers out there as well.

We have many influences, but our sound comes off like a 70s rock band.  We have some Skynyrd influences, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, and host of others.  All of the songs point to Jesus first and foremost.  I think you all will love this as it is different than most of what the industry is putting out--even the smaller indie labels.

I will keep everyone up to date!

It will be different than my usual fare!  I am more of a hard rock/metal guy, and my band leans hard into the 70s.  Some of it rocks pretty hard, and a couple of songs are just mellow.

We have someone working on a lyric video for us for the title song.  I hope to have something to approve by tomorrow--maybe Monday at the latest.  I'd like to get the song out there before the album actually drops.

The album is live everywhere now.  You can stream it pretty much anywhere you choose.  I know Spotify and YouTube Music have it.  You can purchase downloads at Amazon or on BandCamp as well.

Please check out the album and spread the word!

I don't know if we will do CDs or not.  We are looking into the cost.  We just don't want to spend a ton on them and have cases of them sitting around when we die for someone else to throw away.

My lyric video guy quit on me.  We were trying to help a friend get back on his feet financially and asked him to do the video for us.  We nicely asked for revisions, and he quit.  I know he is going through some things with depression.  I just hope this doesn't set him on a downward spiral.

Anyway, I found someone on Fivver who does really good work.  So, we are waiting now for our first version of what this guy can do.  According to the agreement, he has 6 days to complete this job.  I am looking forward to seeing what we get.  I know--I could AI it, but a lot of those videos done with AI illustrations are starting to look the same.

I'm playing the video right now and downloading the album from bandcamp as well.
Are you and the two other singers splitting lead vocals on different songs, or just one lead singer with the other two of you doing background vocals?

There are three definite singers in the group!

Kris Robbie was the main vocalist, but he left in May to do a 14 month stint as a missionary in Estonia.
Tim Walker, who is not on the album, is our new vocalist who also plays rhythm guitar.

Paul Norfleet also plays guitar, some lead but not much, and sings the songs he wrote.

We did a version of my song "I'm Such A Fool" from my last Mission Of One album.  I sing on that one and do background vocals for everyone else when I can.  As you can tell from the bass work, I am a little busy on those five strings and find it more difficult to sing when I am playing more intricately.

Thanks for getting the downloads!!!

Cool!
I absolutely recognized "I'm Such A Fool" from Mof1!
This is a great project, I hope you guys can do some more live shows and write & record some more music together.

I bought my copy of Hard Road. Although it wont let me download to my phone. I will have to try on my computer when i get home. Yall are the zz topp of christian rock. I also caught vibes of santana, skynyrd, 38 special, srv, and even chilli peppers popped in my head once. But it sounds good. It has a southern blues feel to it. I am curious as to who did the mixing and mastering? I need to think about my future when it comes to that. For the the last 13 months, i worked every night on music from 6-12 and it nearly killed me. In that time, I wrote two albums, played and recorded all the instruments except drums, and mixed/mastered it, all by myself. I wanted to do a third one but i might need some outside help. It was too big of a load on myself. Just curious about what your mixing and mastering process was like and what programs you used or who you got to do it. You might could share some advice to ease my burden and make my processes more efficient in the future. I can handle the writing and recording all the instruments, but i would love to pass the mixing and mastering to someone else as that was very time consuming. But yall have a good product out there. Thanks for sharing.

We recorded in a studio in Murfreesboro, TN owned by Jasco Duende.  We cut our tracks as a whole band and then did individual fixes.  We cut scratch vocals and redid them later on.  Jasco mixed the project.  It was mastered in Estonia by a friend of our singer at the time.

For my own projects, I use Reaper.  I program my drums in EZ Drummer 3.  I then record my guitars, bass, and vocals myself.  I am slowly learning how to mix properly, but I outsourced my last project to a guy in South America I found on Fivver.

I also use Reaper to record.  I record rhythm guitar, bass and use EXDrummer as I don't play drums nor have the ability to record them.  Joaquin Figueroa does the lead guitar and Andrew Gazaway does vocals.  I do the mixing and Alldat is gracious to do the mastering for us.

I use reaper as well. It is a great product. But mixing and mastering takes way longer than just recording it. I may check into outsourcing as well. Keep up the good work.

I can hear all of those references except for the Chili Peppers.  On the song "Shaken", I would think a little Pink Floyd might also seep out as well.  I can't think of anyone who listened to the RHCPs in our band.  All the other artists mentioned would all be influnces.

Now if I can push them to do some KISS & AC/DC styles from the 70s as well!

It was just one song that made me think of chilli peppers, i forget which one. It was mainly the other bands that i could smell in the music. Lots of bluesy pentatonics for sure. I bought one song. The locals who bought mine say “pink floyd”. I never get any other comparisons except i have one song that many including me, gives hints of Tool. But the locals just say my music is the pink floyd of christian music. Perhaps it is because both albums are concept albums but you cant hear much of the speaking narratives in the previews. Maybe i should increase the preview. But let it be clear, i do not try to “sound” like anyone. I try to be myself. My buddy in my secular band spent thousands to replicate angus young’s sound, but thats not me. I try to be myself. I also ask a little more for my albums because it comes with free sheet music like piano/vocal scores which were expensive to have transcribed, so i am trying to recover some costs. What i thought was my biggest asset has become a liability for me. That is, my music is very diverse. I use alot of various modes, scales, and time signatures. Also, i have alot of ballads followed by very heavy songs. Most people like to stick with one genre of music so the older crowd doesn’t really like “eternity”, “when sahadows fall”, and “my journey home” because they are pretty heavy. But i have some great hymns like “this world is not my home”, “one drops for me”, and “here’s your crown”. But its an uphill battle getting everyone on board. By the way, i added two LIVE versions of two great hymns from my first album to my website. A lady in my church sings them so much better than me. Listen to her sing “one drops for me” and “heres your crown” on my website if you get a chance. It would be so awesome to hear some of my hymns sung in other churches. That means more to me than selling albums. That is why i include sheet music with my albums. In hopes others will sing them who can sing better than me. Not all of my music is suitable for church services, but some is. By the way, i am having CDs made of my second album too. Cant wait to get them back. I will try to go back and re-evaluate your album one day when i am free but it sounds really good from the first listen.
