Classic Album: Rose - Healing Rosehealing

This doom laden album from 1993 was Randy Rose’s second solo album. This gem was released while he was also still recording with his brother in rock-alternative band Mad at the World. The Rose albums can probably been seen as an offshoot of the few songs he was singing on the MATW albums. While I think all of Randy Rose’s albums are fantastic (with the exception of “Crazy World”), “Healing” is arguably his best album.

I think a large part of the appeal for this album has to be credited to the very accomplished doom style riffing from guitarist Steve Kamanda.

One of my favorite aspects of the first two Rose albums (Sacrificium, and Healing) is the raw intensity in the lyrics and performance.

Randy went on to record on several other projects, Mood Ring, The Crocodiles, and Mothership all with varying styles.

If you haven't heard any Rose yet you can check them out at their myspace site

The songs "Fallen" and "On My Knees" are both from the "Healing" album.

One of my favorite all time bands. I used to call these my "depression CDs" as I would play them every time I would get down. Randy's lyrics were dark, but they always shined the hope that is in Jesus back at you. No matter what I was going through, these discs helped me to persevere.

I would love to see Randy get Rose back together for at least one more project.

Yep it would be cool to see Randy pull the band back together for one more album.

I had heard that the final rose album "Into the Unknown" was actually just a collection of demo songs and out takes. Anyone else ever hear anything like that?

Rose is one of my most favorite bands.
His CDs and special "Healing" are the CDs I played so much.

I wonder what music Randy will write if he would release a new CD now.
I am sure he has written "Healing" when he was in a dark part of his life.

Yes you do. I hadn't played any Rose in probably 6 months or more, and I dusted this album off and broke it out over the weekend.

Great stuff.
