For reasons beyond my understanding, I pulled this out the other day and have listened to it multiple times, for the first time in years. Not having listened to Whitecross much lately, it didn’t live in the shadow of the Rex era albums. I have to say, this is a great album. It’s definitely not the driving hard rock of earlier albums but it has its own sound. I found the lyrics on this one to be a marked step up from the overly-simple lyrics of previous WC albums. I’m enjoying this like it just came out. And for fans of Whiteheart (like me), Mark Gersmehl had a hand in this album, especially the song “I Keep Praying”.
Will it unseat the s/t or Triumphant Return? No. But it’s still a very enjoyable and uplifting rock album!

It's strange how that sort of thing happens. I'll have to give it another go, as when I listen to Whitecross I always pick any album up to High Gear. Beyond that I don't even bother.
Its' the same with The Brave. Listening to their new tracks I decided to pull out Battle Cries again. It's an album I've never enjoyed and always thought was a bit light for my tastes. How wrong I was! It sounds incredible. I feel like doing this to myself... That's like 15 years of missed music!

I liked "Unveiled" right out of the gate. Sure, it isn't Rex, but Barry Grail (Mercy Me) did a fine job of giving the band a new sound. Sadly, they didn't repeat this with "Flytrap". This album had a Zeppelin feel to it without trying to clone them. Their last album. COULD have been this great had they not used so much acoustic guitars. They were going for an Aerosmith vibe and could have nailed it with more rock guitars.
While I like the alternative album, it just wasn't a Whitecross record and needed a new name to sell it.

Still can't get into this one. Just don't like it. I feel Wenzel's voice is too one dimensional for what they were going for. His vocals work with Rex's riffage. I can't get into High Gear either.

I don't mind this album. I think my favorite song is "Salt City". I remember when it came out in '94 there weren't a lot of rock albums being made anymore...so for me this one got played a lot at the time.
