As I've mentioned in other posts, I have three band projects that are all about to release albums this year. One with a confirmed date and the other two are TBD, but they will be released this year. These three bands have similar music but very different singers (who are all phenomenal in my opinion). I really wanted some diverse voices for these three albums and well...they are pretty diverse! LOL!
Here are some samples of each band...

Wow, do you really think you can have Wasp-76b done before the end of the year? You are a mad-man John, one would think you didn't have a life outside of work and writing/recording music.

Lol! I don't!
Put it this way... I don't smoke, I don't drink, it get's dark now at like 5pm, I'm surrounded by guitars at home... what's a guy to do?! Rip out some METAL! That's what!
Yeah all of the music for WASP-76b is done. Just need vocals for 6 more songs, mix, master and it's ready to go. Probably late November.

You're incredibly talented.
I wish I could do that sort of thing, I'd love to make music all the time.

Have you thought about getting Dale and Jen to sing together? That would sound great.

Thanks man. Yeah I have thought about that.
Fun fact...I live in Pennsylvania and Jenny Stokes lives on the other side of the planet in New Zealand. But guess who lives in the town right next to hers? Dale Thompson!
Maybe we can do a METAL cover of Islands in the Stream

No offense to Dale but Jen kills him on the vocals here, she makes the song.

She definitely did nail it. I'm telling you, these Evans and Stokes songs for the new record are really next level, and I'm not just saying that because I'm Evans LOL. I really am feeling like the stars aligned just right on this one.

Dale sounds like maybe he was trying to sing in lower register (getting old?). His voice doesn't pop like on the Bride CDs. Jenny rocks.

I am listening to a few of Dale's newer projects. One thing you will need to do is push him to not sing monotone. There are several of his new songs with different projects where he doesn't change notes. That makes a decent song sound bland. Push him as hard as you can to give you an AMAZING vocal track.

I think Dale is doing too much and can't give the time he needs to each project.

Well I can say that on this record we have coming out I am really happy with his work. He definitely does belt out some serious screams.

If he is anything like me then at some point you realize that if you're able to do something creative and share it with people then do it and keep doing it. Our time on this Earth is too short to hold back creativity. Let it rip!
Also, man I have the utmost respect for singers. I honestly have no clue how they do it. I just had to sing a sample vocal for a new WASP-76b song so that Mara knows how I'm thinking the song should be sung and it was hilariously embarrassing how terrible a singer I am. I've no idea what I'm doing. I can sing in the shower and sing in the car with music blasting and in my own mind I don't sound too bad, but then I record myself singing and play it back...Oh the horror!!!!!
Oh and just yesterday Jen and I were going back and forth on how to sing the chorus in one of our new songs. She wasn't getting where I was coming from with text so I had to send her a sample of me singing part of the chorus so she knew what I meant. Here was her exact reply to my vocal... "lol lol lol lol lol lol lol THAT is hilarious". I politely thanked her for the confidence booster then went to cry in the corner.
So yeah, maybe Dale's not exactly the same these days but boy if he isn't 100 times better me!

And yeah...this guy sings for like half of the bands on the planet now. I started to list them all on the Dominus Meus website but then gave up. LOL!
But also, I think it's pretty neat that if you really like someone's voice then you have all of these options available to you with regard to the type of music to go along with that voice. Dale's projects can be pretty diverse. So when you find the one where the music is right up your alley and it's got his voice that you love then it's a homerun.
I am trying to do something similar but with the music...consistent music, but different singers (very different styles). You may prefer one over the other or all of them. Up to you and your preference.

That's what my voice would sound like if I recorded stuff. Yes, in the car I sound great, until I turn the music off. When I do, even I want to leave the car, 'cause the noise is so awful!
Dale's still got some excellent pipes. I love the two songs he's done with Brydesdale.

Oh man, horrible flash-back when I took over singing for my high school garage band (I played rhythm guitar). I thought it sounded amazing in my head until we played the tape back....I was mortified at how bad it sounded. Got a great confidence boost from the other guitarist (and my best friend) who said "It wasn't that bad".

Every once in a while I think I can do vocals so I record them and then decide that maybe not so much.
