Yes, it's tragic for those who have died, and for the families involved, but we shouldn't wreck the economy for a generation over it. - Through The Dark Radio wrote:

Well I don't think snarky/condescending sarcasm is particularly helpful either. I read Bassdude's comment as simply a call to be rational about all this and keep things in perspective. It's possible to be both rational and compassionate - otherwise I could accuse you of equal lack of compassion towards all those who have committed/contemplated suicide due to the incredible financial/social strains this has caused - let alone towards all those who have lost their businesses, homes, and jobs. I think you and I would both agree that's not the case, so why does Bassdude not get the same benefit of doubt? Last I checked, more people have died this year from the common flu than Covid 19 - and yet there's no such uproar over the flu; I think he's just pointing out that the reaction to this virus isn't consistent/proportionate with its effects - to which I'd completely agree. We should never downplay or marginalize ANY death, yet there is a difference between, say, someone falling off a ladder to their death and the Holocaust, to use extreme examples. Imagine if we had the same amount of resources and worldwide unity in fighting worse atrocities/killers than Covid 19, such as abortion, slavery, addiction, or even obesity! - alldatndensum wrote:
- Does anyone know someone who has gotten sick or died with this?
I know of one lady whose elderly mom died from this. Well, she had a lot of other health issues. I think the virus only made those worse. Of course, in the USA, if you have the virus but die from something else, they still count that as a Covid-19 death which artificially drives up the numbers. I'm not aware of anyone I know personally having it, but I have heard of a couple friends/acquaintances who know someone who's had it. - alldatndensum wrote:

| I do see a little hope, though. You may agree or disagree with me, but I can live with that. Pastors in KY were moving to having outdoor or FM radio church where everyone gathers and can hear on a short range radio transmission. The governor and some mayors in KY were saying that they were going to photograph license plates and send everyone would receive a big citation. A US federal district judge has issued an order saying that these tactics were dystopian and un-Constitutional. Churches have the right to meet as long as they follow CDC guidelines and practice safe social distancing.
I can see other instances where business may now seek rulings from judges and force the nation to restart. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| I think we're going to see an onslaught of legal cases coming, it will be interesting to see how this plays out. This is going to be a big chance to be salt and light for the Church as many will be hurting badly from the economic shutdown. Food Banks are saying they have less then two weeks of food left and at some point, rent has to get paid. | |

| Many companies from utilities to mortgage lenders to corporate apartment renters are giving people the ability to postpone payments. What they are not saying in the news is that many of these companies are allowing this to happen but can hit you with a huge late fee or interest payment once the stay-at-home orders lift. What good does this do the average working class American? None! They will end up paying even more by waiting to make payments. While you can't in most states evict someone during this time, you can bet if we are several months into a shutdown that we will see people being put on the street from apartments and houses being repossessed once this is over as folks who deferred payments will not be able to raise enough cash to cover what they owe in back payments, fees, and balloon interest.
If you can afford to pay the bills right now, you will be better off in the long run to do so even if money is tight.

Good news is that as of today, the local Goodwill in Arizona has re-opened 13 of the 91 stores in the Phoenix area- and re-hired 400 workers in the process! Needless to say, plan to hit some Goodwill locations this weekend... So looks like things are gradually starting to look up. My main concern, however, is that once the economy officially 're-opens', all the healthy people that have been quarantining are going to be exposed to the coronavirus, and the number of cases is going to start to go up again.

| We just passed the peak as a country so on the downhill side now as long as they don't ease up on the social distancing too quickly. Otherwise, yes, we'll see it rise up again.
I was pretty surprised that Menards (think Lowes, Home Depot for those outside the Midwest) was not limiting # of folks in their stores. It was packed Saturday. _________________ "If you are not concerned about your neighbor's salvation, you should be concerned about your own."

We can't perpetually live in fear and succumb to every whim of almighty (sarcasm) big government. We've already capitulated at the altar of safety and sacrificed our freedoms for what? A glorified strain of the flu? I will not play along with this farce any longer. And I'm not alone.

South Korea is retesting people who were hospitalized with the virus and recovered (tested negative). They were sent home and retested later and a significant number of them are testing positive again. It doesn't necessarily mean they were reinfected. Too little is known about this particular virus to know what is going on. Typhoid Mary (a real person) was an asymptomatic typhoid carrier who infected hundreds (if not thousands) of people over several years with Typhoid. Could be some of these "recovered" people could become asymptomatic carriers they will unintentionally infect others. If that's the case no amount of social distancing is likely to work. (I'm not suggesting that is the case, just playing out a possible scenario). _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

From what I read, though, it may be partly because of false positives. Or, who knows.

more stuff. even more stuff my stuff Yeah, that retesting came to mind when I saw the earlier post although I was too lazy to research it. From what I read, though, it may be partly because of false positives. Or, who knows. They had over 100 people retest positive. Seems like too many false positives if that was the case. But I don't know anything about testing for viruses...so we can all take my opinion with a grain of salt. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| School off for the rest of the year here but my wife will go back to work at the school May 4. No word on graduation for my oldest daughter but at this point she said she doesn't care.
They are checking temps when we come in to work.
Beaches re-opened today but limited to 6AM-9AM and 5PM-8PM with groups of no more than 10.

| Just heard from the schools and graduation will be in July. My daughter said she has no interest in walking across the stage because at that point she will be in college. Might also have to do with the fact that graduation will be outside. In July. In Florida. In cap and gowns. With 100 degree heat. In previous years they held graduation at one of the mega-churches with stadium seating and I believe that would be the best way to go. However they still have hurricane damage at that church and they are not available to do graduations.
And my wife changed from teacher to support staff about 2 weeks before everything shut down. Luckily the school system elected to pay all employees, full and part time so she has been getting paid. May 4th she will return to the school to work but isn't quite sure what she will be doing since there are no kids. She will probably help teachers pack up their stuff for the summer.
