| I decided to take Friday off work in order make the drive to Tucson for a weekend picking trip, leaving late Friday morning and returning to Phoenix Saturday afternoon. I hit both swap meets in the south part of town in addition to the antique malls and various second hand shops along 22nd street and Speedway Boulevard. As I was driving down Grant Rd while leaving town for the day, I happened to glance to the left and noticed a sign that said 'PDQ Records'. Obviously, that piqued my interest. So I decided to turn around and check the shop out, and found myself inside a good sized warehouse style building with literally hundreds of thousands of records (the PDQ Records Facebook page lists 350k!). Most were decently priced around $6 to $8 each, which contrasts with one dealer at a nearby antique shop whom was selling vinyl as high as $45. In addition to vinyl, the shop includes tapes at $3 each and CD's at $2. You know CD's are being devalued when they are priced cheaper than cassettes! I also saw 8-track tapes in addition to used vintage stereo equipment. The below picture presents about 3/4 of the shops stock: Unfortunately, I did not have a great deal of time to shop- was feeling rather tired and burnt out from running around in the heat all day (even though it is still April, temperatures are gradually reaching into the low 90's here in Arizona). Hopefully, later this spring before it gets too hot outside, I would like to make another trip to Tucson and spend several hours at PDQ Records. Here is the shops Facebook page (needless to say, I chose to Like it): https://www.facebook.com/pdqrecords/ | |

| I wish we had something like that here in Nashville. Other than country record stores or Lifeway, there isn't really anything anymore. There is still Phonolux in Nashville that carries a lot of used stuff, but they think a lot of their stock when it comes to prices. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

| It's probably a good thing it's so blasted hot or I'd want to come visit. Of course, it's been pretty hot in St Louis for April this week... | |

| Here is a bit of an update with some additional information I forgot to add from the original post:
PDQ Records did have a Gospel section, which included some albums from Phil Keaggy you do not see very often ("Ph'lip Side", "Master & The Musician" and "Love Broke Through") in addition to a Michael Omartian solo album ("Adam Again"). Of course, saw some customary Petra as well ("Never Say Die" and "Back To The Streets").
Again, I did not have a great deal of time to spend, but I did find a lot of Christian albums filed outside the Gospel section in the normal 'Rock & Pop' bins, including just about every album from Joe English. No, I am not a Joe English fan, but it cannot help but make me ask: what else is on the shelves at PDQ?
BTW, PDQ did assign Stryper its own section but it was empty, which leads me to believe someone previously had shown up and purchased all the Stryper vinyl! Lone exception was an original cover LP of "To Hell With The Devil" displayed on the far wall.
Also, I did not make any purchases due to lacking space to display the old Denon turntable I purchased in 1990, which I have no idea if it even works or not. What I really need to do is mount my TV on the living room wall and use the spaced vacated by the TV to place the turntable and (while we are in a nostalgic mood) my old VCR purchased back in the day. | |

| This reminds me of Forever Young Records in Arlington, TX. MetalFRO met me once there and he went nuts in the Christian section of the store. | |
