| Does anyone know of any Christian Bands Rock or otherwise that are releasing special or limited releases for record store day? I think Owlcity is releasing a limited record but not sure of anyone else. | |

| "Record Store Day"? I've never hear about this. Is this new?
I'm certainly broken on April 17th after a long and heavy bike trip through the hills.

| I've never heard of this day, either. Not that it would matter. Except for major box stores and a few Christian stores, there are not any record stores around here anymore. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/ | |

That funny you said that.. I was thinking about this other day.. There use to be 4 Christian book stores and 7 record stores here just in the last 5 years ago there is just one Christian book stores and no record stores.. The internet has killed a lot of small book stores.

| Except for a few "used stores" we don't seem to have much of any cd stores around here anymore either. And the "major box stores" have seriously cut down on their cd selections. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I agree: What is "record store day"? It seems odd to devote a day to a chain of stores that is by and large going extinct. It would almost be the equivalent of someone declaring "dinosaur day" when in fact there are not any dinosaurs around to celebrate. | |

| There's a CD store over here in Lexington, KY called CD Central that I think participates in this. Is this day where the Record stores put out a bunch of their CDs for dirt cheap? Because I remember my sister going to that store and buying like 8 albums for $15 on some random day. | |

| That would be cool. But, most of the stuff I'd want is not going to be released in time for this and might not even be found in the stores.

| Perhaps it should've been called CD Store or Music Store since that would more accurately describe what's going on these days...
I love driving to the closest and best one about 40 minutes away.... I find a lot of used stuff there I refuse to call CDs obsolete... simply because the audio quality of a CD is better than what can be downloaded.... I realize market forces and all, but IF something comes along that has better quality than a disc I'm all for it... not gonna happen....

I think it is called record store day, since most of what comes out that day is vinyl. It is all special edition stuff or re-releases on vinyl.

| Face it--the CD will soon go the way of the cassette. I think that is also one of the reasons that the Blu-Ray dvd is not selling like they hoped. People know they can get their music and movies from the internet and no longer need physical product. I know--for those of us who like having the CD, it's not something that I look forward to. But, knowing that I have limited space for CDs, it is tempting to join the MP3 generation for my tunes.

Yep starting to feel the same way too. I purchased 2 or 3 MP3 albums in the last year. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| Even if Cds go away I will continue to collect them just like cassettes and vinyl too. The digital quality still doesn't compare in my opinion to having the real thing. | |

You can always ask MWS for some space around Nashville, if you need some space to store some cds. Or I can store them for you, here in the Dallas area. My parents still live in Memphis, so I can provide them back to you, somewhat quickly, when needed. Speaking of MWS, he is a guest on the new U2 album coming out this summer, Songs of Ascent (songs that didn't make the last two albums, plus a few from movies), which will all be done new. MWS will be playing organ on one song.
