| I worked briefly on my latest song "Free". I already had the rhythm guitars done, so today I did my bass work. This song starts with an AC/DC type riff. The chorus has a blues/sleeze metal feel. I even threw in a tip of the hat to an old band I liked for where the solo will go. I will let you all be surprised by that nugget!
I still have to do my vocals and guitar solo on "Free".
Then, I will begin a song called "Lord, How I Love the Way She Walks". Then, I will do an 11th song which will be one of the two co-written by Fundy. I will save the other for installment three of my blues journey, mates! Arrrrrr! _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| I am sending the debut album to Cross Rhythms in the UK. They do artist pages, reviews, and can even include you on both live and streaming radio stations there that they run. I've sent a short bio, info on the album (release date, number of tracks, who played), a promo picture, and all song files. Here's hoping that I soon will be seeing Big Chris & D'Bare Bones Band on the Cross Rhythms site.
Xid, I would nose around and see if you can get Joshua's Creed on there as well. Having some promotion across the big pond can't hurt us.

| I had to re-sign up for an account. They used to sell quite a few CDs years ago and I actually bought some stuff from them. I bought my 2nd album by Cornerstone from them. My first came from Blast Beats and the final of the three came via some seller in Australia that I can't remember the name of now.
I just felt like sharing! | I did a little work on the latest song today. I can't get my vocals right yet, so I switched to working on the guitar solo.
The solo will go over a riff I used from the Poison song "Talk Dirty To Me". I thought I was using the section from their guitar solo and was going to learn and do theirs as a tip of the hat to them. Well, I didn't. I used the section from the chorus of the song. So, I used a little of their original solo and did a lot of my own. I added some harmony notes to give this a 70s sound and put a few simple lead licks in throughout the verses of my song. Voila! The leads on "Free" are done! I still gotta nail the vocals!
As for the lyrics of "Free", I know that Jim is gonna dig them. It is about how we have no condemnation in Christ and no guilt trips. We are free to live our lives because we've been baptized into Him. We are satisfied with Jesus and that helps us to live free. Great concept, huh? _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| I sent the debut album to Cross Rhythms to see if I can get played on their stations. They have a gospel blues hour show that plays on Saturdays both on FM and internet stations. | Cross Rhythms has been going for donkey's years, we even used to mail their magazine out where I work. They have been doing some great stuff, so hope they play a few songs from the CD, that would be awesome. _________________ My Christian Metal Website......... Silence Is Madness

| I hope they will play it.
Of course, it may be "too secular". What do I mean by that? I was talking to a guitarist and his son who is a drummer about being a part of the band. I'd even reassured them that I would be willing to use their input so we could write together and morph the style into something even stronger. That reassurance, after they listened to part of the songs, ended with them saying "they'd have to pray about it" as the album "was too secular for them to feel comfortable playing".

What's that even mean "too secular"? Can something be "kind of secular", or "partially secular"? Not enough JPM for them? I'm not trying to be condescending with my comment, just don't understand. Does every song have to clearly proclaim Christ for some Christian musicians to feel comfortable playing it? If yes, they should probably avoid much of modern worship. _________________ "I used to be indecisive.......... Now I'm not sure."

| I sort of get what they're saying as I used to only want to listen to completely christian stuff, but I kind of think that albums that have a bit of both in them will appeal to more folks, and that can only be a good thing. Also even those that aren't christian per-se still have good morals running through them and what can be wrong about that?
I guess it's good to have some kind of conviction about doing something - no point in going in to a project half hearted, so if those two guys weren't sure then it is best they don't do it. _________________ My Christian Metal Website......... Silence Is Madness

| With the first album and soon to be 2nd one, I have tried to balance carefully the silly songs, the story songs, the social issue songs, and the preaching/Jesus songs. I don't feel that I have shied away from my faith at all or compromised with what I did. To be honest, I would be surprised if anyone came away from "When Your Time Comes" feeling like it was anything less than Christ honoring. It will be that balance, to me, that would earn the ability to play in front of more than just an already born-again church crowd. Well, that is, if I could find musicians.
Maybe I need to just focus on being a one-man band and doing the best I can live until someone catches on to what I am trying to do as an artist.

| That's one of the (many) strengths of your album. If it were all 'church' type songs then you couldn't play anything outside of a church. Some folks will be interested in your album(s) because they have story/social issue songs etc and folks can connect to that sort of thing. Hopefully you'll find some musicians who understand what you're trying to achieve and make a full band. That would be wonderful. _________________ My Christian Metal Website.........
