| I used to follow Disciple in the mid 90s. I had all the cds up until By God. They went into a direction that I didn't care for.
I remember thier song I just Know being one of my favorite songs by them..I listened to it years later and didn't understand why they said somethings in the song. To me the song is an anti-religion right. They just want Jesus right?

| You are correct. They were saying that all the things that divide us like sprinkling vs. baptism or Catholic vs. Protestant or even burying the dead vs. cremation does not matter as none of those things can save you. They just knew that Jesus was the way.
Their change of direction that they took: was it the musical change or the lyrical change? You will be happy to know that the lyrical change was not permanent. Yes, the message was more subdued in 2005's "Rise Up" but was still there. They were aiming to try to take Disciple to the secular market. It worked a little as the song "Rise Up" was picked up by several pro sports teams for play during games especially by the Nashville Predators hockey franchise. However, when that effort failed for Disciple, their next album from 2006 "Scars Remain" brought back the more direct messages albeit more mature. They've been getting back more and more of their up-front lyrical approach ever since. With the indie album "Attack" from 2014 and the EP "Vultures" from 2015, Disciple is ever bit as in your face as they once were. However, with that said, the in your face lyrics are still more mature as should be as Kevin Young, the only original member left, is maturing both in age and in his walk with Jesus. _________________ I might have decided, or maybe not, that I should or shouldn't, depending on the issue or non-issue, to possibly share or not share, any thoughts, opinions, or facts (that might not be deemed factual by some), due to possible fear of any misinterpretation or retribution. https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/

| For the longest time, when Kevin sang that line about wearing a "liturgical robe", I always thought he was saying a "detergent robe". Don't ask me why. I don't know. | |

| I didn't know Kevin left. He was a great songwritter and i liked his vocals. Was a reason given for his departure from the band. | |

| He didn't leave. He's the only original member who's still with the band. | |

| Ah ok. That makes sense. I was a bit confused because I read interviews with him discussing Attack | |

I wish I had said that.
