When I first heard the Angelica album, I didn't like this song. I thought it was weird. Now, I love it. It's a good song to come back to God whenever I forget Him, even if not for long. Also, I love the bass.

Born in darkness Escaped the grave Devouring flesh Now embrace the plague
Born in darkness Escaped the grave Devouring flesh Now embrace the plague!
Yeah...
Necrotizing Fasciitis Embrace the plague
Yeah...
Song explanation by vocalist Jason Wisdom: The lyrical concept for this song is short and sweet. Necrotizing Fasciitis means "flesh eating bacteria", which fits the aura of the song perfectly – it is nasty. However, as is often true of great songs, there is an underlying metaphor in the text. In this case, the plague is Jesus. Kind of a dark metaphor huh? Well may, but the idea is very simple. Flesh, or more specifically the sinful nature of carnal self, is something that all humans struggle with, and Christ is the only true power for defeating that sinful nature. And so, we cry out for Him to infest our bodies and devour our flesh. EMBRACE THE PLAGUE!

Sadly, I don't care for metaphorical lyrics. I don't usually catch on. Even with this, if you had not explained it, I would not have gotten it.
Did I like the style? No. It's noise that hurts my head. I couldn't even make 30 seconds of it before shutting it off. If that were all the metal available, I'd start buying Kenny G and Taylor Swift albums.

Haha I love that song! Classic BTA. I was so excited when they played it last time I saw them (which was years ago now... ).

I'm not a fan of Believer. Except for some Deliverance and Tourniquet, I don't care for most speed metal, thrash, and any form of extreme metal. Give me Stryper, Bride, Petra, Letter 7, or even Kutless, Disciple, and Seventh Day Slumber. Some of the other folks here like the hard stuff, though. Just not me.
One big thing for me is the vocal style. A lot of bands have the growling or screetching vocal and it just isn't musical. Most of it is monotone, or single note. For me, that just grates on my nerves. I'd rather hear the vocals of Axl Rose, who really isn't a great singer, than anyone screaming or screetching at me.

Here an other CHM member who's not a fan of "cookie monster" music. Yep, I know what one loves is not the favorite of an other.

Both the Emerald and Diviner songs were great picks!
