I will be mixing my Christmas tune tomorrow.  I have all the vocals done, all guitars (did the solo myself), bass, and percussion done.  My "drums" this time is an African shaker, my foot tapping on the mic stand, and a plastic bucket.  It actually sounds pretty good!

Eventually, I will upgrade it and get Sabidoo on it. For the sake of getting this submitted to Cigar Box Nation for their annual Christmas comp before the Dec. 18 deadline, I will mix it down with my homegrown percussion sound just for fun.  It actually works quite well.

I'll let everyone know when the song & compilation is ready for download.

I am curious to listen to this song.

As for the tie in to Mission Of One, I think I want to keep these separate.  With the first few albums I did having been VERY low quality compared to what they should have been, I think that a lot of folks see MO1 very negatively.  I'd like to get a fresh start with the blues project.

Is the whole album going to be a Christmas album?  Not mine, no!  I doubt this song will even go on the album.  I am doing it solely for fun and to put on this compilation release that Cigar Box Nation is doing.  It has, however, been a lot of fun to do.

I think I have the mix down like I want it and will do my mastering this afternoon.  Then, the song should be ready for the unveiling.  Does anyone know if Dr. Demento is still on the air?

Actually, Dr. Demento IS still on the air and I have sent for info about submitting my song to his show!

It's bummer people see all those wonderful Mo1 albums on this way.
Each musician has to learn when he's releasing his first album.
When you do all things on your own and mix the CD is a very good job.
 
Having some more band members and a professional studio is making things easier.
But not all bands have this and can afford this.

The song is done.  I've done all I am going to do to it.  I've done all the guitars, vocals, bass, and percussion this time.  There are no drums on it.  I am playing an African shaker, a plastic bucket, some jingle bells, and a mic stand (LOL).  I wanted to keep it sounding kind of rootsy since this was being done for the Cigar Box Nation 2014 Christmas compilation.  I wanted it to sound pro, though, so this has been mixed and mastered in house.  It has taken more days to get that correct than it did to write and record the song! 

I have sent the track to Cigar Box Nation and have a spot reserved on the album.  It should be available as a free download on Dec. 19th.  I'll let you know when it is ready.  Some of the songs will sound amazing and others like crap.  Just keep the songs you like and delete the rest!

I also have submitted the song to the Dr. Demento Show.  I don't know if he will play it, but here's hoping!

I got an email back from Dr. Demento!  He personally listens to every song that is sent to him and decides if they make the show or not.  I am hoping that he uses this on this week's show.  If not, at least I know I tried.

I am now going to set to work on making a lyric video for my song using pictures from the movie "A Christmas Story".  I think that would help make it more enjoyable for people.  When it is finished, I will upload it to YouTube and then Facebook.

Can't wait to see the video and I really hope Dr. D decides to use the song for his show.

I still haven't heard back from Dr. Demento.

There are still 3 days before the Cigar Box Nation compilation is released.

However, I have finished the lyric video and am currently publishing it as a Windows Media Video file!  I can take that and upload it to YouTube so that you all can hear/see it before anyone else does!

If anyone is interested in downloading the 2014 Cigar Box Nation Christmas compilation, it is now ready.  There are 35 songs total.  Some of the recordings will be clear and pristine.  Some will be more rough.  This is not a Christian music compilation so not all of the songs will be Jesus songs.  Even mine wasn't.  However, some could be a little more rowdy.  Just delete the songs you don't like.  That is my plan.

To be honest, there are only THREE songs worth having on the whole thing and one of those is mine!  The rest sound like crappy demos of people who can't sing or write a decent song.  You have 3 good songs and 32 awful ones.

When are we changing the avatars? I don't wanna be like the guy who still has his lights up at St. Patrick's Day.
