So I'm a little late in the season for this topic, but I'd still like to hear your choices.
List as many Christmas songs as you want and which version (artist/group) you think did the best version of all time.
I'll start with a song I've never particularly liked, but thanks to White Heart, their version of "Little Drummer Boy" is excellent and by far the best version of that song ever recorded.
What about you ? List some Christmas songs and which version (artist/group) did THE BEST version of those songs in your opinion.

Not a huge Christmas music fan myself but I really like this version of "Mary Did You Know" by Kutless

Nice ! I thought I'd get a bigger response on this thread. Again, I must be a little too late in the season for this topic. Maybe next year I'll start a thread with a list of several classic Christmas songs, and people can pick and choose the ones they want and add which version they like the best.
Liberty 'n' Justice and Grave Robber did a good version of the Grinch song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6v2hcHcxGp0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzldEuOVKxo

Rock Power Praise: Christmas Hymns is just about my favorite Christmas album of all time. Especially since I'm not really into Christmas music, with the exception of a few songs.
O Come, O Come Emmanuel and O Holy Night are two of the few Christmas songs that I really like. And that's only if they're done right.

This would be my list. I'm limiting it to (relatively) hard music and standard Christmas tunes (ie, no originals, medleys, etc) so there's at least 2 to compare. LOL Note that there have been several metal Christmas albums that I don't have that have been released since stopping my show.
Angels We Have Heard - Adam Again (Hon Mention: Archer <- No, really!) Away in a Manger - Gary Hoey (Hon Mention: Christmas Rock) Carol of the Bells - TSO (Hon Mention: Pastor Brad & BWC Studios) Deck the Halls - Ted Nugent (Hon Mention: Gary Hoey) Do You Hear What I Hear? - Flyleaf (Hon Mentions: Steve Stevens & SDS) God Rest Ye... - Ronnie James Dio (Hon Mentions: Gary Hoey and Viva Voce) Hark the Herald... - Rock Power Praise (Hon Mention: A Guitarist's Christmas) It Came Upon... - Gary Hoey Joy to the World - Steve Morse (Hon Mentions: Stride & Kevin and the Octaves) Little Drummer Dude - Whiteheart (Hon Mentions: Theocracy & Rock Power Praise) Mary Did You Know? - Royal Anguish (seriously) (Hon Mention: Kutless) O Come All Ye Faithful - Stryper (Hon Mention: Rush of Fools) O Come O Come - Theocracy (Hon Mentions: The Migraines & Metal Praise) O Holy Night - tie Dream Theater or Jeff Scheetz (Hon Mentions: EverSINcEve & Barlow Girl) O Little Town... - Bob Rivers (Hon Mention: Robin Trower - yes, not at all hard) Silent Night - Manowar (Hon Mentions: December People & Rock Power Praise) Silver Bells - Twisted Sister The First Noel - December People (Hon Mention: Gary Hoey) We Three Kings - tie Fuel or Stride (Hon Mentions: Phil Keaggy & Kamelot) What Child Is This? - Stride (Hon Mentions: Jag Panzer <- mellow, Rock Power Praise & December People) White Christmas - Geoff Tate (Hon Mentions: Kevin and the Octaves, Axl Rose & Zakk Wylde [mellow]) Winter Wonderland - Stride (Hon Mentions: Stryper & 7th Heaven)

I'd have to agree with Theocracy's version of O Come O Come Emmanuel with Eulogium's version not far behind. And Frost Like Ashes' bit of that song in their Let All Mortal Flesh Be Silent is amazing considering how high Sebat sings it

Seeings how much I like Topshot's taste in music (I love almost everything he's played on Rocksalt) I'll be looking up the songs on that list for next years Christmas mix...
