Here's your chance to lash out on those songs that are PLAYED OUT every year... and those albums that turned out to be BOMBS.
I'll start:
The song I never want to hear again for the rest of my life is the one about the frickin patheticly deformed reindeer whose fellow kind wouldn't accept him based on the shallow reasons that he wasn't like all the others... racist jerks.
The album that I got recently and was completely disappointed with was "Billy Idol - Happy Holidays" (2006) === dreadfully boring ! What happened to the punker turned 80s pop-rocker ? This is like a children’s album with a sad attempt to sound like anyone BUT himself. I'd rather smell vomit than listen to this album again.
Your turn:

Any traditional version of "Little Drummer Boy" should be banned from the planet. Any rock version of "Carol of the Bells" should also be banned just due to being overdone and overplayed.

alldat: AGREED - how many kids grow up hearing these stupid annoying songs and think the stories are actually from the Bible.
I can see a kid growing up and becoming an atheist saying "and how can an ox and sheep keep time in a song ?" Im surprised the newer "Nativity Scenes" don't include a kid with a drum.

On a related subject. I recently heard Paul McCartney singing "Wonderful Christmas Time" and I haven't been able to get it out of my head for the last few days. Please, somebody make it stop.

however, Gary, if you can't stand the song and can't get it out of your head... don't you think it's kind of evil to POST THE SONG so everyone else gets it stuck in their heads ???
I know some may disagree, but I think "Ken Tamplin: The Colors of Christmas" is an awful album... where's that Tamplin sound that I love so much ? Why did he record that album ?

Yeah... I got excited when he offered it for a free download. I think I listened to it once. Not terrible, just very bland.

Another Christmas project I thought of that I can stand is anything my Manaheim Steamroller. Their stuff sounds like a cheap Casio keyboard from Walmart. sabidoo loves them, but I can't stand them.

Twisted Sister's Christmas album is a lot of fun.

Yeah, I don't know if they just sound dated or if it is that TSO blows them away on every level, so when I want to hear that kind of thing I'll listen to TSO.

One of my dissertation committee members (who is a huge prog rock guy) calls this song "Linda just bought a cheap synthesizer and won't stop playing it until I agree to put her on a record."
I can't believe no one has mentioned "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" or "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

Actually I find their version funny. The same kind of way I like Bob and Doug McKenzie's 12 days version... but still not pleasant to listen to as a "song", just for a good laugh. I despise repetition in songs, and the traditional 12 days is BEYOND repetitious.

Does this version change anyone's opinion of "that reindeer song"?
